Como usar Wattio con IFTTT

IFTTT es un servicio que permite automatizar acciones de diferentes servicios de internet. En la

que la regla es sencilla: Si se cumple una condición, haz esta acción.

IFTTT es una forma de ampliar la compatibilidad de Wattio con otros sistemas de hogar
conectado. ¿Quieres que se apague la calefacción cuando se apaguen las bombillas de Hue,
porque te vas a la cama? Esto es posible.

¿Quieres que la alarma se apague cuando no haya nadie en casa o que la calefacción se encienda
cuando esté a punto de llegar? Estas y muchas otras funcionalidades y escenarios automáticos
son una realidad gracias a que Wattio es compatible con IFTTT.

Desde el propio menú de la app Wattio SmartHome, puedes acceder a los servicios de IFTTT.

A continuación se explica cómo crear un applet en la plataforma IFTTT. Los applets son la forma
de automatizar y compatibilizar acciones de Wattio con otros servicios conectados.

IFTTT es una plataforma que se puede acceder vía web o que también cuenta con una cómoda
app diseñada especialmente para dispositivos móviles.
Para descargar la app, puedes hacerlo desde la Play store o Apple store, buscando la app IF de
IFTTT. Es una aplicación diseñada en inglés, no es posible cambiar el idioma a español.

En cuanto accedas a la app de IFTTT encontrarás una bienvenida en forma de guía rápida. Vete
deslizando las pantallas para descubrir cales son los primeros pasos y las últimas novedades de
IFTTT.

En el último paso, te pedirá que te registres como nuevo usuario.

Para crear una nueva cuenta, debes introducir un email y una contraseña y pulsar en Create
Account. Automáticamente se creara una cuenta. Posteriormente, hay activar la cuenta en el
email.

Una vez dentro, la forma de usarlo es muy sencilla. Funciona con applets, que al igual que las
reglas de Wattio, siguen el esquema “if this then that”, es decir, si se cumple una condición, haz
esta acción.
Como verás en cuanto entres en la pantalla de inicio de IFTTT, ya hay mochos applets creados
que puedes usar o puedes crear tus propios applets.

Para encontrar las que ya existen de Wattio, puedes acceder al canal. En la Parte de abajo, en el
centro, puedes pinchar en “Search”. Verás que hay tres canales de Wattio: THERMIC, GATE
(corresponde a seguridad) y POD.
Puedes entrar en cada canal para ver los applets que ya han sido creados por otros usuarios y
ponerlos en marcha en un solo click. Estos son algunos ejemplos:
Si encuentras un applet que quieras poner en marcha, pincha sobre él. IFTTT te pedirá los
permisos y la info que le hace falta para conectarse con tu Sistema Wattio.

Si no hay ningún applet para hacer lo que tú quieres, puedes crear una tú mismo.

Para ello, pulsa sobre el símbolo de + o “new applet”. Sólo debes seguir los pasos para crear la
condición y la acción que suceda en consecuencia. La propia app de IFTTT te irá guiando paso a
paso, de forma muy sencilla e intuitiva.
En primer lugar es necesario introducir la condición sobre la que se creara la acción. Y
posteriormente se elegirá la acción.

A continuación se da la opción de elegir la condición sobre la que queremos crear el applet.

En el ejemplo sobre estas líneas, el objetivo es generar un applet para activar y desactivar la
calefacción en función de si llegamos o nos marchamos de casa.
Si cambiamos “that”, podemos usar el mismo applet para apagar/encender un dispositivo, por
ejemplo el POD que controla la TV para evitar el consumo fantasma.

En ambos casos, para seleccionar la acción de consecuencia, debes buscar la opción de THERMIC
o POD, en función de lo que quieras hacer. Por tanto, puedes buscar bien con esas dos palabras
o bien con Wattio para acceder a todo el abanico de posibilidades. Cuando escojas el canal,
automáticamente te aparecerán las funcionalidades entre las que puedes escoger.

En caso de que quieras controlar la alarma, debes escoger el GATE como canal.

Tras elegir el dispositivo que se desea utilizar, pulsar “Continue “. Pedirá usuario y contraseña
de tu sistema Wattio para continuar.
  Acción con POD

Si se ha elegido la acción sobre el POD, dará las opciones de los diferentes POD que disponga
ese sistema. Seleccionar la deseada y presionar “Continue”.
Una vez pulsado “Continue”, aparecerá el resumen del applet recién creado. Pulsar “Finish” para
finalizar.

 Acción con GATE

Sí se ha elegido el GATE para crear la acción. Dara opción a elegir entre activar/desactivar toda
la seguridad o la seguridad parcialmente, es decir, actuar sólo sobre el DOOR, MOTION o sobre
el SIREN. Es igual que en la app de Wattio, para ofrecer control sobre todos los dispositivos de
seguridad o sólo sobre uno que deseemos controlar de forma individual. Se elige la opción
deseada y se pulsa “Finish” para finalizar.

 Acción con THERMIC

Para el THERMIC el funcionamiento es exactamente el mismo. Entra en su canal y echa un vistazo

a las opciones que ofrece.

Notificaciones
Cuando un applet se ejecuta, llegará una notificación push al móvil. Como la que se muestra en
imagen:
Todas las acciones generadas a través de IFTTT se ejecutan mediante su app. Si tienes cualquier

 Make the most of your Wattio System with IFTTT

IFTTT is a free compatibility platform that allows automating actions combining Wattio with
other home automation devices coming from other brands, or combining Wattio with more
Internet based services or mobile services. This service works as Wattio rules, but with elements
out of the Wattio system. In IFTTT they call this rules applets and the working way is very similar:
“if this then that”.

So IFTTT is a free way to increase compatibility with other home automation brands and devices.
Do you want to switch off the heating when your Hue lamps turn off as you are going to bed?
this is exactly what IFTTT offers.

Do you want to switch on automatically the alarm when there is no one at home? Or switch on
the heating when you are about to come back after a long day? These are some examples of
advanced features that you can activate to create more sophisticated automation scenarios.

Directly from the main menu of the Wattio SmartHome app, you can Access the compatibility
tab to go to the IFTTT services.

You can use IFTTT by their web or by their apps for Android and iOS.
The app is available on the Play Store and the Apple store and it is only available in English for
the moment.

As soon as you open the app, it shows a quick starting guide and the latest news, so slide right
until you reach the “new account” page.

It will ask you to register on the app with an email account. It will send you a validation email as
well.

The usage in very simple and intuitive. As said, it Works with applets, that are similar to the
Wattio rules, with the scheme “if this then that”, so if a condition fulfills, then an action will
occur.
In the very first screen, you will realize that there are already many applets created with
thousands of different Brand combining between each other. You can look for applets that are
already done or you can create your own ones.

To find Wattio apllets, you can access the Wattio channels by “searching” with the word Wattio.
There are three Wattio channels available: THERMIC, GATE (for the security control) and POD.
You and access each channel to look at the applets created by other users and activate them
just clicking on.
Once you find the applet that you want, click on it. IFTTT will ask you for the correspondent
permissions such as the user or password of your Wattio System, or Access to your GPS, it will
depend on the chosen applet.

If the applet that you look for does not exist, you can create your own one.

Press over the + symbol or over the “new applet” option. You just have to follow the guided
steps of the IFTTT app. First, you will chose the condition and then the actions.
First, choose the condition that will work as trigger.

Then choose the action that will work automatically as a reaction of the trigger.

In the example, over these lines, we want to create a new applet, to turn the heating on/off
when you leave or reach back home. If you choose to switch the POD as “that”, you can use the
applet to turn off the TV for example, when you leave and avoid the ghost consumption.
For both cases, when you choose the action, you have to look for the device that you want, in
this case the THERMIC or the POD. To do that, you can search directly with the words THERMIC
or POD or look for Wattio and then choose the channel.

In case that you want to use the alarm and the automatic action, you need to look for the GATE,
as it represents the security options.

Once you have completed the applet, the IFTTT will redirect you to provide your Wattio
system’s user and password.
  “That” actions with the POD

If you have chosen a “that” with the POD, the IFTTT app will show you the options. Choose the
one that you want and continue.
You will also have to choose with which POD you want to interact, in case that you have more
than one. Then press finish.

 “That” actions with the GATE

If you chose the GATE as “that” action, you can choose to activate/deactivate the whole security
or just the security derive from one device: the DOOR, the MOTION or the SIREN. This allows the
same functionality as in the Wattio app, to prove the control of the security in a much more
personalized way.

 Acción con THERMIC

For the THERMIC, it works the same. Choose this channel to automate your heating and save in
the energy bill.
Notifications
When the applet performs, you will receive a push notification, so you keep informed about
everything happening at home.

All the actions derived working from IFTTT work though their app directly. In case of any
