Proposal

I am producing a Music video for the ‘BeCreative’ film festival. The deadline for the completion of
the production is 28th November, so that it can be submitted into the festival. Any later and it’ll will
surpass the deadline.

As well as choosing to do a short film, I chosen to do a music video as my second production. In

doing so it will allow me to further show my camerawork and editing techniques to get the song to
blend and work with the narrative, but also to show how well I can convey a narrative with little to
no sound within the narrative itself.

For my productions I have chosen to make my target audience for 25 - 40 year old's as I think it will
allow me to make it more sophisticated that for the bracket of 5 - 12 year old's and will allow me to
use my camerawork and editing to convey ideas and feelings that would not be possible for the
young audience as they wouldn't pick up on it or understand it. Furthermore, the bracket of 25 - 40
year old's will allow me to have a wider range of options of what I could create and how creative I
can be with the narrative, camerawork and use of editing to convey the story and to create a link
between the audience and the production through relatable experience on understandable
situations. Before this, I conducted some research on my audience to find out more about them and
their view on my production idea. This would then allow me to better suit my production to my
target audience to meet the brief more successfully. After my research into my target audience my
idea changed significantly. I found that the idea of having the character go to a gravestone was too
much to the point and signified an endpoint, therefore I removed this from my production as this
opinion was shown throughout my research. Furthermore, I found that due to the age of my target
audience, they would most likely of all lost someone close to them, and a lot of them their
grandparents recently. This therefore makes it a sensitive and raw topic for them to watch,
therefore the idea that was suggested to me it to focus on the positive aspects of their relationship.
So I decided to add it lots of sections where it look back on the good memories they had together
and shows them having fun/a good time. This therefore keeps the production positive, and allows
the emotional connection without causing it to be upsetting to the audience.

After conducting research on my target audience, this is my planned idea for the music video:

My music video consists of a teenage girl at her house, looking over photos and cards from her
grandma who has recently passed away. When looking over photos and items we cut to video clips
of them together as memories of their positive times together. The location then changes to her
grandmother’s house where she is packing up her stuff and finding personal belongings which
trigger further memories. We then are shown through the house as the camera pans through, and
ends up showing the character singing the last verse of the song while sitting on the sofa.

I intend to upload my music video to YouTube, because from my research it appeared to be the most
used platform to watch music videos. Furthermore the most watched videos on YouTube are music
videos. As well as this, it is free to watch content on YouTube, so anyone can view it. This therefore
then allows it to be available to my target audience because from my research I found that the
majority are in low paying jobs and are less likely to be paying for subscription services such as
Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Furthermore, I will upload it to Facebook because it is widely used
by my target audience, who take up more than 32% of the global monthly active users on Facebook.
