What Makes Japanese Agriculture so Advanced Compared to Indonesia?

Japan is one of the developed countries in Asia or even in the world. They are known
for their excellence in the fields of technology such as automotive, electronic goods, and also
their culture. In addition to technology, Japan is also known to be very advanced in agriculture
both in the field of food industry and agricultural management If compared with Indonesia,
Japan might lose far from the area of land to the fertility of the land. But, although it does not
bear the title as an agrarian country like Indonesia, Japan is able to assume as the country with
the most rapid progress in agriculture and when compared to Indonesia, obviously Indonesia
is very Then, what makes Japanese agriculture so advanced when compared to Indonesia?
There are five factors that make Japanese agriculture so advanced when compared to Indonesia.

From government concern for farmers, the Japanese government is very concerned
about its farmers as in terms of the regulation of crops to be planted it has been fully regulated
by the government and in accordance with market needs so that all Japanese farmers can
benefit, in contrast to Indonesia where there is still a lack of government concern for farmers
and the lack of good regulations applied.

Then, aside from regulating the crops planted, the Japanese government also controls
and sets prices. Farmer's agricultural products will be bought directly by the Japanese
government at a fixed price and certainly benefit farmers without the need for farmers
themselves who have to sell their produce outside. in contrast to Indonesia where prices are
often unstable and farmers are often deceived by middlemen in terms of prices due to lack of
government control.

In terms of land owned, the availability of land owned by Indonesia is far more than
Japan but in terms of individual ownership Japan is far superior. There is one farmer who can
own 7-10 hectares of rice fields while in Indonesia only has a plot or two plots. By having a
large area of land they are able to maximize yields and also use more efficient farming tools
on large tracts of land rather than narrow land.
In terms of technology it is very clear that Japan is very superior in this matter.
Accompanied by their automotive and technological advancements, they are able to take
advantage of these advantages in increasing their production and agricultural output. In Japan
they are able to plow their fields within 1-2 hours using only plow six whereas in Indonesia
farmers only use a single plow and finish their work much longer when compared to Japanese
farmers. This affects the productivity of farmers.

Then the last in terms of work ethic. It is undeniable that Japanese society has a high
work ethic in various lines or fields. There are Japanese farmers working for 12 hours a day
(not including breaks) and it will increase if there is overtime in a day, Japanese farmers only
sleep for 4 hours a day. If compared with the work ethic of Indonesian farmers, it is certainly
very far away where Indonesian farmers are still often stalled in working on the fields and it is
not uncommon for us to see rice fields left unattended.

So in conclusion, Indonesian agriculture is still very far in various aspects when

compared to Japan. Then how about agriculture in Indonesia? Can it progress like Japan?
Indeed, Indonesian agriculture will be far ahead of defeating agriculture in Japan if the system
and more attention to farmers is carried out correctly.
