Anchor 2: Mocha Uson named OWWA deputy executive director

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson as the new
Deputy Executive Director of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, according to a new list of presidential
appointees from Malacañang.

REPORTING MARK JAY CAPITULO

FR 1(Mark Jay Capitulo):

Speaking on her radio program, Uson said she will now have more time to focus on the needs of overseas Filipino
workers including the creation of a Department for OFWs.

"Mukhang dadami ang putting buhok ko," she jested.

Uson was among the celebrities that heavily campaigned for Duterte in 2016. She was later appointed
communications assistant secretary in May 2017 but resigned last year after a string of gaffes and controversies.

She ran as first nominee of the AA Kasosyo party-list, which Uson said aims to help Filipinos, particularly overseas
workers, become successful entrepreneurs. The party-list group failed to win a seat in the May 2019 polls.

Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdinand Gaite, meantime, said Uson's appointment was "illegal and should not be enforced"
as losing candidates cannot be assigned to a government post within a year under the 1987 Constitution.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez and Comelec Education and Information Division Dir. Atty. Frances Arabe,
however, said the prohibitions do not apply to topartylist nominees.

Anchor 1: Consulate cautions Pinoys in Hong Kong over Oct. 1 protest

The Philippine Consulate General has warned Filipinos in Hong Kong to stay away from protest areas as police
expect more violence during the 70th anniversary of communist rule in China.

Protesters are angry about what they see as creeping interference by Beijing in their city's affairs despite a promise
of autonomy when British rule ended in 1997.

The trigger for the protests was planned legislation, now withdrawn, that would have allowed people to be sent to
mainland China for trial, despite Hong Kong having its own much-respected independent judiciary.

The consulate also urged Filipinos to refrain from wearing or carry anything that could mistakenly identify them as
part of the protest.

“Stay home if possible. Don't wear black or white T-shirts," it said.

Anchor 2: UAAP: Ateneo Blue Eagles refused to let hype get to them in UP rematch

REPORTING VINCE KIRBY BABILA

FR2 (KIRBY BABILA): Nearly 20,000 fans packed the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday to watch the first-round
encounter between Katipunan neighbors Ateneo de Manila University and University of the Philippines (UP).

It was the most highly anticipated showdown of the first round of UAAP Season 82, a rematch of last year's finals
that was won by the Blue Eagles via a tWo-game sweep.

Hopes were high that UP could gain a measure of revenge, however, thanks to their star-studded squad that
featured reigning MVP Bright Akhuetie, former Rookie of the Year Juan Gomez de Liano, along with Kobe Paras and
Ricci Rivero.

Ateneo, for its part, returned with the core of the team that won the last two UAAP titles. AngeKouame,
ThirdyRavena, and Matt Nieto anchored the Blue Eagles' perfect start to the tournament, with the defending
champions winning their first six games.

Anchor 1: Manila 'drug queen' now in the US: Eleazar

Manila's alleged "drug queen,” Guia Gomez Castro, is now in the United States, National Capital Region Police chief
Guillermo Eleazar said Monday.

REPORTING JOYCE DEMESA

FR2 (JOYCE DEMESA): According to Eleazar, intelligence reports showed Castro, who was earlier reported to have
left the country for Thailand, also went to Taiwan before going to the US.

"Based on our monitoring from Bangkok, she went to Taiwan and from Taiwan she went to USA," Eleazar said.

While the authorities are still tracking her down with the help of foreign counterparts, efforts are also being made
to cancel her passport and visa.

Her relatives and those helping Castro are also under investigation, according to Eleazar. He said, however, that
there is no timeline or target completion for the investigation.

Malacañang earlier welcomed the suggestion to cancel Castro's travel document given that she has existing arrest
warrants.

Castro is accused of buying and distributing illegal drugs from "ninja cops," or officers who recycle seized illicit
narcotics from drug stings.
She was first arrested in 2001 for alleged possession of drugs, but the case against her was dismissed, supposedly
allowing her to expand her alleged narcotics network.

Anchor2: House pushes bill allowing foreigners to own public utilities in PH

House committee on economic affairs chair and the bill's sponsor, Sharon Garin says foreign direct investment
could provide the capital necessary to improve public service.

Lawmakers are moving swiftly to pass a bill that would allow foreigners to own public utilities in the Philippines.

Around 10 pm on Wednesday, September 4, the House of Representatives began tackling in the plenary House Bill
(HB) No. 78, which would provide a more explicit definition of “pubic utility” and amend Commonwealth Act No.
146 or the Public Service Act.

HB 78 essentially will open up to foreigners the ownership of public utilities in the country, explained House
committee on economic affairs chairperson Sharon Garin when she sponsored the bill in the plenary.

She said the 1987 Constitution’s requirement that at least 60% of public utility enterprises' capital stock must be
owned by Filipino citizens or corporations is limiting the country’s economic growth.

Anchor1: Typhoon Hagibis creeps closer to PH

REPORTING MARK JAY CAPITULO

FR2(MARK JAY CAPITULO): A typhoon off the country's Pacific coast will enter the Philippine area of responsibility
in the middle of the week, the state weather bureau said Monday.

Typhoon Hagibis was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and 150 kph gusts at 4 a.m.,
said PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz.

The country's potential 16th storm this year, which will enter PAR on Wednesday or Thursday, is unlikely to hit
land, she said.

The easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific on Monday will bring generally fair weather that may be marred by
rains in the afternoon or evening in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, Dela Cruz added.

Hagibis approached the Philippines about a week after Typhoon Onyok brought rains to northern Luzon.

ALANA MAE FRIAS: Vice Ganda admits Ion Perez is ‘special’

Short of confirming their rumored relationship — and their supposed “monthsary” — comedy superstar Vice
Ganda admitted on Monday that he considers Ion Perez “special.”

The topic came up Monday during a press conference for the 10th anniversary celebration of “It’s Showtime,” the
noontime program where the apparent romance progressed from jokes to tearful moments in the past year.

Vice Ganda did not give a direct answer when asked what prompted him to post, for the first time, a photo of him
with Perez on his widely followed Instagram page last week.

Early this month, the two yet again made headlines when a playful exchange of “I love you’s” during a live episode
of “It’s Showtime” unfolded to be an emotional moment for the rumored couple.

With every apparent development in their relationship, fans of Vice Ganda and Perez would flood social media
with supportive comments, at times even making “ViceIon” trend on Twitter.
