2. Creating Awareness
Ask: What word can be formed using only the first letter of your answers?
The students will answer the question “What will you do for the one you
love? Or what have you’ve done already for someone you love?” What is the best
kind of love for you next to God’s?
2. Video Presentation
The students will view and listen to the video entitled “Ballads of a
Mother’s Heart.

The teacher will stop playing the video and give the students chance to
continue the story through differentiated tasks:

Very nice! I am very pleased you were able to finish the task given to you. Now let’s
discuss your answers. Anybody who can tell me what he/she notices with their answers?”
Group the class into a team of five and decide on who will act as the group
leader.
Answer the initial question on a paper: “In what way/s have you hurt your
mother?”
Share your answer with the group. You will be given two minutes to do this.
The leader will consolidated the answer and will find the commonality from the
members’ answers.
Share it to the whole class.
The love of parents for their children is a strong trait among Filipinos,and, as true
in the Orient, generally the son is particularly dear to his mother. The poem which follows
relates how forgiving and how great the love of a mother is for her son although he has
hurt her very much.
Comprehension Check
1. How will you describe the over-all setting of the poem if the first stanza
states that “the night was dark, for the moon was young”?
2. The boy declared “there’s not a thing I would not do, for you, beloved”.
Would you do the same for the boy/girl your fancy?
3. The girl asked her suitor, “go to your mother dear and bring her heart to
me”. Will you ask the same or would you ask for something else? If so,
what would it be?
4. The young man’s mother demonstrated her love to her son when her heart
asked, “were you hurt child”? Can you recall a personal experience
demonstrating the love your mother has for you?
5. Can you guess the age of the boy when he said, “my love is true; why
have you kept me waiting all these years”. Is he the same as your age.

1. ACTIVITY:
a. Unlocking of Difficulties:
The teacher presents definitions of unfamiliar words used in the poem “ Ballad
of a Mother’s Heart” . The words are written in the form of a slang text known today
as Jejemon Text which the students need to transform to formal writing system to
guess the answer. In turn, the students will have to use any of the words in a
sentence.

b. Creating Awareness
The teacher will show another set of definition which the students have to
identify and which they have to form the theme of the lesson by taking only the first
letter of their answers.
Ask: What word can be formed using only the first letter of your
answers? The students will answer the question “What will you do for
the one you love? Or what have you’ve done already for someone you
love?” What is the best kind of love for you next to God’s?
2. ANALYSIS

ending of the story .
