GH¢412,431.51 as against GH¢316,298.82 recorded in 2009.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Mr Samuel Danquah, said the assets of the
bank also grew from GH¢7.34 million to GH¢16.89 million during the period under review.
Addressing the 6th Annual General Meeting of the bank at Sefwi Bonsu Nkwanta in the Juabeso
District, he said, the bank also increased its deposit base from GH¢6.1 million to GH¢13.3
million.
In addition, loans and advances increased from GH¢450,870.64 to GH¢1,267,786.57,
representing an 181 per cent increase over the previous figure.
The chairman pledged that officials of the bank would continue to work hard in order to maintain
its enviable status among rural and community banks in the country.
In an address read on his behalf, the acting Managing Director of the ARB Apex Bank, Mr Duke
Osam-Duodu, said the domestic money transfer being operated between the ARB Apex Bank
and the rural and community banks was receiving steady patronage.
He said the system had indeed come to fill a void in the money transfer business.
Mr Osam-Duodu stated that the impressive performance of the bank had made it to be ranked as
fifth out of the 13 rural banks in the Western Region and 10th among the 133 rural banks
nationwide.
He said that notwithstanding, a lot of work still needed to be done in the area of capitalisation if
the bank wanted to be considered one of the best rural banks in the country.
“It is only by improving the capital base of the bank that will enable you to open more agencies
to better serve the unbanked and under-bank members of your operational communities,” he
said.
For his part, the Senior Manager of the bank, Mr A.K. Foli, appealed to loan defaulters to pay

CHAPTER THREE
The expectation that the Bia-Torya Community Bank will make the determinants of the
technical efficiency of rural and community banks in Ghana? This paper addresses this question with
data from 101 rural and community banks in Ghana. Data envelopment analysis based on the variable
return to scale assumption and binary logistic regression technique has been used for analysis. The
results show that only 20 rural and community banks are technically efficient. The binary logistic
regression analysis provides evidence that size, profitability, and bank funding quality are significant
determinants of technical efficiency in the rural banking industry in Ghana. Whereas an increase in the
size and funding quality of a rural bank results in a decrease in its technical efficiency, an increase in the
profitability of a rural bank improves its technical efficiency. It can be inferred from these results that
the resource utilization of many rural and community banks in Ghana is weak and that the resource
utilization performance of a rural bank can be assessed by considering its size, profitability, and funding
quality.
Mr. Anthony Nana Akontabisa. I was then introduced to all the staff. I was oriented on
the rules and regulations on collection and management of data. I was given two pens
blue and red to use. They introduced me to the vouchers, that is savings voucher, current
vouchers, susu vouchers, impersonal vouchers and waste vouchers. They teach me how
types that is debit and credit to all the voucher. They also teach me how to write in the
cheques books the manager call me to his office show me the difference of the cheque.
We have company cheque and individual cheques normally the company cheques are
close cheques

CHAPTER FOUR
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / LEARNING EXPERIENCE ACQUIRED
Professionally, I had the opportunity to practically feel some of the academic work I
acquired from school during the attachment programme. Examples are Opening Account,
Account checking in the computers, recorded of counter cheques and counter saving
Doing of E-Cash , Respect for the privacy of others and the promises of confidentiality
given to respondents and retrieving of secondary data from the computer to clients cannot
be over emphasized.
Personally, My confidence level has improved greatly. My interactions with people
(respondents) and top officials paved some social contacts for me. Good friends were
made, efforts to understand people and ability to use and manipulate electronic gadgets.
CHAPTER FIVE
In conclusion, the supervised industrial attachment of the Technical Universities gives students
the opportunity to apply knowledge in real work, exposing students to work methods not taught
in the Technical Universities and provide access to products equipment not available in the
Technical Universities as well as assessing students’ interest in the occupation he/she plans to
undertake.
Undoubtedly, the impact of this attachment with the Bia-Torya Community Bank cannot be
quantified. The attachment has made me gain some practical knowledge and experiences in my
field of study (Accounting with Computing) as well as enriching me with the interaction with the
business world. It has also instilled in me some more integrity especially punctuality, being
submissive to and taking the views of superiors, more tolerant, respectful and hardworking, the
Since the experience for these few weeks was enormous I recommend that:
