A great inventor
John Logie Baird (1888–1946) was a Scottish

1 20 Listen and read. What’s a good family pet?

Ask Morris
Q: We’re looking for a family pet but not a dog or a
cat. We’d like something more interesting but also safe.
Which is better – a Macaw parrot or a chinchilla?
A: These pets are more interesting than dogs or cats,
and they’re safe, but are they right for your family?
Macaw parrots are beautiful and friendly, and they don’t
need to go for walks every day! BUT they need a big cage chinchilla

– the biggest cage you can buy – and they’re expensive.
Don’t forget, they live longer than dogs or cats.

Great places of the world

My name’s Gabriella. I’m from the oldest and
most beautiful city in Colombia. It’s called
Santa Marta and it’s by the Caribbean Sea.
Tourists come to Colombia because it has

mountains and beaches. My favourite one,
Playa Blanca, is only fifteen minutes from

That’s the capital of Scotland. Edinburgh

there’s an interesting castle at the top

Tourists come to Edinburgh for the festival
in August. When they’re here they also
visit the lochs (lakes). My favourite place
is Loch Ness. I always look for Nessie, the
