Newsletter Staff Corner:
HAPPY AUTUMN!! It’s that time of year when we all start to get ready for winter. Storing summer furniture, fixing up minor
issues, getting our homes ready for the heating season are just some of our chores. Let’s not forget to keep in touch with your
LAC events and meetings. This information is always listed in the LAC Newsletter as well as a series of email announcements.
For those ad subscribers start thinking about your yearly ads, whether to keep them same, discontinue, or reword them. A
renewal letter will be coming soon so be sure to respond to it as soon as possible so that any changes or deletions can be set for
the 2020 Newsletter year. By keeping all ad spaces filled and paid for the LAC Newsletter costs the Club Treasury very little or
nothing at all. The costs for the ads have remained the same for a number of years, even though the costs for printing have gone
up, therefore it is most important that all spaces are filled and each ad is paid for on time. We try to stay on top of the ad
payments, but it is up to the advertiser to pay on time so that our costs are controlled.
We are still looking for members to contribute stories, news, or any vacation adventures for printing in future Newsletter
editions. Pictures can be included along with the written material as long as they are in a standard email format such as jpeg.
Any of this should be sent to lebanon-club@att.net or mailed to the Club’s address – 22 West Street, Danbury, CT 06810
attention: Newsletter.
Thoughts to Live By:
“Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don’t bother just be better than your contemporaries or
predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.” William Faulkner, American author (1897-1962).
“I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house.” Nathaniel Hawthorne, American
author (1804-1864).
A Little Humor:
“When your mother asks, “Do you want a piece of advice?” it is a mere formality. It doesn’t matter if you answer yes or no.
You’re going to get it anyway.” Erma Bombeck, American humorist (1927-1996).
“The idea is to die young as late as possible. “Ashley Montagu, Anglo-American anthropologist (1908-1999).

October 29th, at 8 p.m. Meeting dates are listed on the monthly calendar found on the last page of your newsletters.
Health and Welfare:
Please keep in your prayers our ill members and/or their family members and wishing them speedy recovery. Please notify Pres.
Mike Caravakis, whenever a member falls seriously ill by sending an email to caravakis@aol.com.

By Ghassan Najm: On Fri. 9-25-19, I had the pleasure of visiting with a great friend, and a long time Club member, Thomas
Saadi, Commissioner of CT Veterans Affairs at his office in Rocky Hill. Although the visit was short, I had a quick tour of
the VA campus serving CT Veteran’s needs. His office showcases generations of past family military service of Lebanese,
Italian and Portuguese Heritage. On behalf of the Club and the ladies Auxiliary, thank you Commissioner and all of our
Veterans specially those who we count among our membership, for your service!

Ladies Auxiliary News by President Betty Najm
Hello Ladies, Fall is here! I hope you’re making time to enjoy the beautiful colors of the leaves on the glistening
lakes and mountainsides! Now is the best time to go apple picking and pumpkin picking. These wonderful things
make Connecticut such a great place to live!
At the September meeting, we welcomed and pledged two new members: Janice Stauffer and Samar Fayad. Thank
you for joining our family!
The Ladies Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, October 8 and November 19 at 7 PM weather permitting. If Danbury schools are
closed, then the meeting is cancelled.
There will be no meeting in the month of December. Save the following date for our Annual General Membership meeting
which is January 26 at 3 PM, dinner to follow upstairs with the Men’s club. Hanna Restaurant will be preparing a traditional
Lebanese chicken and rice with all the mezza we love!
Thank you to Mary Elizabeth for helping the Auxiliary run a successful “Taste of Lebanon” Wine, Beer and Spirits event.
On Friday, Sept. 13 about 45 people had a wonderful time mingling and sampling wines from Ksara and Ixsir wineries of
Lebanon. Remember, if you want Lebanese beer, wine and arak the Cave liquor store sells them. It’s located in the back of the
Maron hotel! Vivo Bar & Grill is always open for lunch and dinner!
Thank you to our Team Captain, Lisa and her Mom, Najla for participating in the 2019 fundraiser for the St. Jude Walk/Run
to End Childhood Cancer on September 21 in Stamford, CT. The Ladies Auxiliary donated $250. Lisa and your kind donations
raised over $1,500. Ghassan Najm also attended the event with Carl and Norma Khalil Rohde. Thank you to everyone one,
members and non-members for your kind donation to this wonderful cause!
The Middle Eastern Buffet benefiting the Scholarship fund will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 PM. Please bring your
friends and family. A donation of $25 is appreciated. Children 10 and under are free. Members interested in donating food or
money to buy food please contact Randa Antous, the chairperson at (203) 501-5637. Sign-up sheets will be passed at the Oct.
meeting.
Please reserve your tickets for the Person of the Year honoring Ruth and Billy! The Amber Room will be serving their delicious
Appetizers with some Lebanese favorites, a surf and turf dinner (NY strip steak & Shrimp) & apple pie a la mode on
Wednesday, October 30th at 6:30 PM! The Ladies Auxiliary has voted to put an ad in the Program Book. Tickets are $55 per
person. It’s the Best deal in town!
I look forward to seeing all of you on Tues. Oct. 8 at 7 pm
