Poetry in clay
How the medium performs without commanding it to be anything but
using its ephemeral qualities between the state of rawness.
Beggars Brunch August 2013, Singapore

Food wrapped in clay bowls made on the spot as people ordered their food – a choice between chicken stew or seafood – both clay
and food were then baked in the oven to 200 degrees and served to the audience. We used this opportunity during the hipster
event, “Creatory” to express the less considered aspect of clay, its impermanence.

Watching the performance of their bowl being made, and then eating out of the baked bowls, the medium’s stat of rawness
becomes very apparent to the audience especially when it starts breaking apart with too much strength applied. At the end of the
meal they are encouraged to smash the clay bowl – experiencing impermanence of both mediums as the food is fully consumed
into their bodies and the clay returning to earth.
AWARE – Body Boundaries making workshops 2016, Singapore

Body Boundaries is a series of workshops that Tania De Rozario, an artist and friend has worked to curate with AWARE that looks to
discuss the topic of gender based violence. In our ceramics making workshop, we used the same tone explore again the
impermanence of clay but this time we got the audience to make and break their own pot. Several of these workshops were held
throughout this year.
