I.PROJECT PROFILE
a. Title of Activity : ECO-BOTTLE GARDENING

b. Description : This project implies the use of bottles not


only in everyday consumption but also
as an income generating project. This
will use glass bottles instead of pot in
making an indoor garden. This will be
conducted once a year in the month of
October. The target participant of this
project is the adopted community of
University of Immaculate Conception.
There will be 8 facilitators for this said
project from the College of Accounting
and Business Education of the University
of the Immaculate Conception.

II. INTRODUCTION

a. Rationale
Disposal of Solid Waste is widespread issue in both urban and rural
areas in many developed and developing countries. According to the
Environmental Protection Agency (2013), there is a 14 percentage of
plastics and 4 percentage of glass has been classified as one of the
municipal solid waste that are generated from 10-30% from market or
commercial areas and 55-80% from households.

In the given statistics, it is evident that waste is increasing and


possibly doubles annually. Most of these wastes are non-biodegradable
and it will take hundreds of years to decay. This project with the title, “Eco-
Bottle Gardening” helps citizens in the adopted community of the
University of the Immaculate Conception to be more aware about
recycling glass bottles for further usage such as indoor gardening which
they can also benefit in lessen solid waste in their respective area. In
addition, Glass and Plastic Bottle Gardening last longer, people can enjoy
raising their own food, relieve stress and a lot more benefits.

b. Vision, Mission and Objective

Vision

The proponents envision to create a difference in terms of helping the


community and the environment.

Mission

The proponents aims to:

● Promote awareness and create a solution for the increasing waste


in the Philippines;
● Encourage the citizens in recycling plastics and glass; and

● Endorse backyard bottle gardening for more food source.

Objectives:

The objective of this project is to:

● To lessen plastics and glass wastes;


● To create an income generating project that will help the
adopted community of University of Immaculate Conception;
and
● To promote indoor gardening as a tool to combat the causes of
global warming.
