 Basic Rules
1. Use words to express numbers one through ten
◉ I have one brother and two sisters. Four of us can get along pretty well.
◉ Approximate number: My aunt has about five houses in this area
2. Use figures to express numbers over ten
◉ He ordered more than 100 doughnuts for his birthday. I cannot believe that he
is 65 years old already!
◉ Approximate number: I think his application was rejected for more than 20
times before he got accepted.
3. Whenever possible, reword the sentence to avoid beginning with a number.
◉ Eleven cats are sleeping there.
◉ Twenty-three percent of the sample agreed that the new TV show was funny
◉ One fifth of the class

◉ Example:
