Introduce Present Perfect Tense


 Ask the students to read the language detective box
in Learner’s Book pg 57 .

 Write some of the sentences on the board in present perfect tense.


Discuss how present perfect is formed.

 They have eaten all the mangoes.

 The students have finished their work.
 I have visited the school library today.

 Explain that we use participle with has and have for e.g.

 (The pronoun ‘I’ is an exception to the rule. Although it is singular yet
we use the auxiliary verb have with it).

 Ask the students to explain two important prerequisites to form present


perfect tense:
Has/have + present participle

Flash Card Activity:


 Give each student two flashcards with irregular verbs written on them.

 Hold up one of the remaining cards, and ask for volunteers to use it in a
present perfect tense sentence (Correct any mistakes they make).

 Repeat this exercise with one more card.

 Ask students to make their own sentences with their two cards.
Have them share their sentences with other classmates and correct any
mistakes they notice.

 Complete the following present perfect sentences using the correct
auxiliary verb (has/have) and change the form of verb too.
