Explanation of Parenting Style Factors

Diana Baumrind parenting styles were based on 2 factors of parenting, which is considered to be very
essential. The first factor of parenting style of Diana Baumrind is Parental Responsiveness. This factor
consigns to the level of parent answers to the needs of their kids. The 2nd factor is Parental
Demandingness that is the degree to which parents look forward to more responsible and mature
behavior from a kid. Utilizing these two factors, Diana determines three diverse parenting styles:

Permissive or Too Soft

This style is categorized by little demands with utmost responsiveness. The tolerant parent is excessively
responsive or sensitive to the demands of the kids, seldom enforcing constant and dependable rules. A
spoiled kid frequently has tolerant or permissive parents.

Permissive- or Uninvolved Parenting

This style of parenting is regarded as by the similar lack of demands or limits spotted in the tolerant
indulgent style.

Authoritarian or Too Hard

This kind of parenting style is regarded as by utmost demands with little responsiveness. Parents who are
demanding or authoritarian are harsh, rigid and controlling. Normally abusive is included in this
classification even if Diana is wary to highlight that not all demanding parents are cruel and abusive.

Authoritative or Just Right

This is regarded as by utmost demandingness with vast responsiveness. The reliable parents were firm,
however not stiff, want to make exclusion if the case warrant. Authoritative parents were responsive to
the needs of their kids, however not indulgent. Diana is favored in this kind of parenting style.

He also researched the significant impacts of corporal penalty on kids and has over and done that minor
hitting, in the perspective of a dependable parenting style, have an essential detrimental effect, when one
is vigilant to have power over other variable like socioeconomic standing.

Diana also observes that past research showing a connection between bat results and corporal
punishment failed to have power over variable like socioeconomic standing. Families with low income are
more possible to use corporal punishment as opposed to wealthy families. Kids from low income areas
are more prone to do violent crimes opposed to kids from wealthy areas. On the other hand, when right
controls are prepared for family profit and other independent changeable, Diana believes which mild
corporal punishment as such doesn’t increase the possibility of bat result. This statement has in sequence
attracted criticism as well as counter points coming from another member in a similar publication for
instance.
Noam Chomsky’s Language Acquistion Theories

Chomsky’s Theories

One of the greatest linguists of all times, Noam Chomsky asserts that language is innate. He wrote his
famous book, “Language and Mind" in 1972, in which he proposed his famous theories on language
acquisition. In this book Chomsky wrote, “When we study human language, we are approaching what
some might call the ‘human essence,’ the distinctive qualities of mind that are, so far as we know, unique
to man." According to Chomsky, language is one characteristic that is unique to humans among all other
living beings. Chomsky’s theories have made it easier to understand the evolution and development of
the languages.

Chomsky’s theories on language are based upon the importance of linguistics in modern sciences.
According to him, to study languages, it is important study human nature that lies in human mind

Chomsky on Language Acquisition

Noam Chomsky postulated that the mechanism of the language acquisition is derived from the innate
processes. Innate is something which is already there in mind since birth. The theory proposed by
Chomsky is proved by the children living in same linguistic community. Moreover, they are not influenced
by the external experiences which bring about the comparable grammar. He thus proposed his theory on
language acquisition in 1977 as "all children share the same internal constraints which characterize
narrowly the grammar they are going to construct." He also proposed that all of us live in a biological
world, and according to him, mental world is no exception. He also believes that as there are stages of
development for other parts of the body, language development can also be achieved up to a certain age.

Another postulate of Chomsky’s language acquisition theory is the process of selecting the best grammar
that matches with the data available. He related the structural linguistics with empiricist thoughts.

Chomsky on Generative Grammar

When talking about generative grammar, his views are different from structuralist theory. According to
Chomsky, generative grammar should “render explicit the implicit knowledge of the speaker." He
proposed a set of well-defined rules to generate required sequence of words. Individuals instantly
decipher that a certain combination of words make sense and different combination does not make sense.
The explanatory theory of generative grammar is beautifully demonstrated by the rules of the English
auxiliary system.
