MODULE 1 (JOURNAL)
From the first topic discussed, the knowledge I have in doing basic skills of
computer was added. Like in making a PowerPoint presentation that it must be plan
carefully, design where it fits to the audience and the use of fonts, color, background, and
more importantly the content are must be brief and concise. Aside from that the
presentation of the pros and cons of utilizing technology in teaching and learning was so
essential for us students.
Technology is the number one top trend in the industry right now. All people in this
world may have one of the technologies such as gadget. Today, technology is useful in
any different kinds of industry. It could in work, lifestyle, studies and many others. When
it comes to teaching and learning, technology is highly important. It gives you an answer
for an instance without searching and looking all the books in the library.
One of the limitations of technology in learning is the distraction that it may pose
within the learning environment. The opportunity to access social network sites and
games can tempt students away from planned learning activities. Such distractions can
hamper their overall progress and their potential to succeed. That is why, it is important
to the guardian and teachers to monitor the use of games and social network sites to
ensure that students remain on task and complete assignments.
During the discussions I was amazed and shocked that there was so many
application and websites today offline/online that I haven’t known. And I could say that I
am lucky because out from my curiosity I was able to explore those site/applications
namely NBC Learn, Livebinder, and Tagul. NBC Learn is the educational arm of NBC
News dedicated to providing resources for students, teachers and lifelong learners. It is
also valuable education tool for K12 and Higher Education students and teacher across
the world, while Livebinder keeps the class up to date on materials and lessons by
creating a tab for each grading period or unit; upload class notes, handouts, and
presentations in addition to extra resources for content-specific support. Now, when a
student misses class, they can simply check the binder to get caught up on work. Also
students can use LiveBinders to keep their class materials organized and also to keep
writing, reading, and research portfolios to share with their teachers for assessment
purposes. And lastly, Tagul is a website where we can create word art by using a list of
words and selecting different attributes about the shape you want to create.
For me in order to make sure we/you are using technology the right way just simply
listen, control and learn in meaningful way. Because I believe that “Technology is a useful
