Joshua displayed a confident and friendly manner with students who appeared confident and comfortable to ask questions
or seek help if necessary.
St 3 and 2: Lesson sequence used knowledge of student learning, appropriate content and incorporated a range of
teaching strategies. The lesson provided opportunities for incorporating inquiry, whole class teaching / discussion as well
assigned task.
3.4 Students had opportunities to work individually and to be involved in discussion with partners, also to work in books,
use IT / laptops to engage in learning and practice research skills. Activity provided interest and the opportunity for
students to work on differentiated tasks as appropriate. He provided particular focus when necessary with a student who

as required. This enabled him to ensure students were on track as he asked appropriate open ended questions and guided
learning.
The class was generally focused, with students engaged and appeared to be interested in the learning activity. Continual scanning
of the class occurred to monitor behaviour of all students. Behaviour management strategies were used appropriately and in
practical ways when needed.
Conversations with mentor teacher indicated that Joshua has developed the confidence and ability to engage

Using peers to provide feedback to each other - and to check they are on track with learning intention and lesson
focus could be something to consider in a lesson such as this.
