For the Year 2019 - 2020
English Literature: Topics for Prose, Poetry, and Drama
Choose any one of the following topics.
1. How is the theme of true sportsmanship and the spirit of cooperation
portrayed through the poem Nine Gold Medals and the short story My
Greatest Olympic Prize? Compare and contrast these two works with
reference to the basic storyline, the characters, and the theme. State and
mention historical references and explain the main literary devices used in
both these works.

2. Compassion for one‟s fellow beings is the key to survival. Justify this
statement with reference to the poem The Cold Within and The Little
Match Girl. How do the writers portray the characters and their
situations in these works? How are their situations resolved and with
what consequences? Compare and contrast these two works.

3. Sarojini Naidu paints a vivid and vibrant picture of Indian culture and
traditions in her poem The Bangle Sellers. Choose another poem of
hers which reflects the Indian ethos and show the similarities and/or
differences in these two poems. Comment on the importance of
preserving the Indian way of life as shown through these poems.

4. Hearts and Hands and A Face in the Dark are both open-ended
stories. Compare these two stories and suggest alternative endings to
both these stories based on the information stated about their plots and
characters.

5. What is a stereotype? How do they originate? Research and discuss the


various stereotypes encountered in the play “Merchant of Venice”.
conclude with your opinion on the characters that break the stereotype.
(The money lending Jew, compassionate Christian, all the princely suitors,
the prodigal.)

6. Rewrite Act I in modern English setting it in another era and place.


(Eg: Merchant of Venice in the 1920‟s Seattle.)

GUIDELINES
1. Rough drafts to be sent to the respective teachers during the holidays.
2. The corrected and edited versions to be written by hand only.
3. Leave a margin of one inch on all four sides of the page.
4. The inclusion of pictures, drawings, and illustrations are encouraged.
Label them clearly.
5. Include an acknowledgement page wherein you could express your
gratitude to those who inspired and helped you complete the project.
6. Include a bibliography of all the Web sites or names of books that you
used for reference and research.
7. The project must not exceed 18 pages or sides of a sheet of A4 sized
paper.
English Language: Write composition (300-350 words) on any two of the following:
a. Write an original story entitled: “Capsized”.
b. „Students get distracted from studies due to constant use of digital
technology‟. Express your views either for or against this statement.
c. You went to your uncle‟s house in a village during the summer vacation.
Describe the beauty of nature you saw all around in the village.
d. Narrate your experience of waiting on the pavement for the school bus
every morning in the winter.
e. Study the picture given below. Write a short story or description or an
account of what the picture suggests to you. Your composition may be
about the subject of the picture or you may take suggestions from it.

Mandela/ Martin luther king.

Mathematics: 1. What is banking?

3. Types of banks
4. Services provided by the banks
5. Types of accounts
6. Demonetization
7. Impact of demonetization on banking
8. Difference between credit and debit card, phone banking and net banking
and UPI and payment wallet
9. Rate of interest for RD/FD/SB accounts for any four banks
10. Attach the following with the project
a. Application form,
b. Deposit slip
c. Cancelled check.
Elective:
Economic Applications: 1. Make a presentation on the central problems an economy faces. Explain
these with reference to the Indian economy.

2. Develop a hypothetical table of information for coffee that shows


quantity demanded at various prices and supply of coffee at these prices.
Draw a demand curve and supply curve and show an equilibrium price
at which market is cleared of its supplies.

3. Take a case of a nationalized bank – visit any one of its branches in your
city. Analyze the main functions of this bank‟s branch. Make a
presentation to this effect.

4. Take a case of five FMCGs – fast moving consumer goods - bathing


soaps, toothpastes, facial creams, shampoos, ball pens. Analyze as to how
the market for these products is characterized by product differentiation.

Commercial Application: 1. Make your own Soap (FMCG) and plan your marketing strategy to sell
them.
2. Find the procedure to open a Bank a/c. Explain the function and services
of the bank.
3. Make A4 size poster where in any social Ad has to be designed.
4. Make an Audio-Video Ad for any FMCG (Comparative / Social Ad).

French : A 1000 words project on A4 size paper- (Include a covering page, index,
info, pictures and bibliography)
