INTR 1020 Final Reflection Prompts

1. You began this course by exploring your future career and creating a Weebly page that
described the qualifications and skills necessary to be successful in that career. In 3-5,
well written sentences tell us what career you chose and why you want to follow this
path. What is your motivation? If your choice no longer attracts you, what alternative
are you considering and why do you think this is a better match?
I chose veterinary as the career that I wanted to take part in for my future. The reason for this is
because I love animals and they are easier to deal with then people are for a several reasons.
For one they do not lie nor complain and they are less talkative then people are. That is pretty
much why I chose this career.

2. In the second week you brought a set of notes to class and reviewed them with a
partner. Afterwards you revised them to make them more useful for learning. In 3-5,
well written sentences describe what changes you made to your notes and explain why
you found this helpful.
I highlighted certain parts of the notes and expanded on the ideas that they held. I also used
multicolored pens to underline or add new notes. The new notes would come from my
textbook to give me a better understanding. I found this to be an extremely helpful due to it
helping me better my note taking skills.
3. In week 3 you came up with a degree plan. In 3-5, well written sentences describe what
you hope to achieve at UCBA and what plan to do after UCBA.
I hope to achieve a 3.5 GPA and to complete my undergraduate degree on time and to transfer
to UC main campus to complete my graduate degree. After that I plan to go to Ohio State’s vet
program due to it being one of the best in the country and being in state. All while doing part
time jobs to pay for my school. After that I plan to become a vet and help save animal lives.
4. In the fourth week you started doing research on your chemical substance. In 3-5, well
written sentences describe your compound and what you found out about it.
The compound that I got was Arsenic and I found a great deal about the compound in my
research. I found out that it is poisonous and can cause cancer. I also discovered that Arsenic is
found in the earth’s crust and volcanoes as well as being man-made. Overall the research on
arsenic was interesting and fun as well as easy.
5. In week 5, using Bloom’s Taxonomy levels as a guide, you wrote questions about the
chapter you had read in the Poisoner’s Handbook. Share with us your two best
questions and in 3-5, well written sentences say why you picked them.
Synthesis- Synthesis a simulation in where the Arsenic poisoning in food can be used to cause the most
harm and how to set precautions to prevent it from happening.

Analysis- Contrast Shelbourne poisoning and Jean Crone's poisoning dinner.

The reason I chose these two questions’ is due to them being my best question. The reasons
they're my best question’s is due to how complex the synthesis one question as well as
how much of a brain teaser it is. While the Analysis question is easier there are a lot of
similarities of the two cases as well as differences. That is why I chose these two as my
best question’s.
 6.In week 6 you did an assessment of an exam and reviewed how you had prepared for it.
In 3-5, well written sentences describe three study strategies you used that worked well and
tell us why they worked well, or describe three study strategies that you are going to try for
the next exam and tell us why you think they might help you prepare.

7. Threaded through the whole course has been the Poisoner’s Handbook. In 3-5, well
written sentences tell us what you enjoyed most about your chapter. What made the
case particularly interesting?
I enjoyed the information the book held about poisons and what they can do. I also liked how it
gave stories of poisoning's that happened in real life and how the law treated these cases.
Overall it was an interesting and good read and filled in my free time to enjoy and story.
8. Another piece of the course was creating an e-portfolio (Weebly) that allowed you to
build a professional online image as a UCBA student. In 3-5 well written sentences tell
us what pages you found particularly useful and why.

9. And finally, in 5-8 well written sentences tell us what things you really enjoyed in the
course and why. What things should we definitely keep in for next semester?
I enjoyed many things from the course one of which was the atmosphere. As well as the
Poisoner’s Handbook due how much of a good read it was. The snack’s in every class
was nice and I would recommend repeating that for the next semester. Overall, I really
enjoyed the class and the group work as it was helpful to have others to discuss
information with. There is nothing I really can give to add to the class as it was fun and
easy going. So, thank you both for this wonderful experience in ways to better myself.
