Rehabilitation of Sanitary Drainage System of Barangay Bonifacio

Drainage system is important in every barangay or subdivision. It consists of large connected

concrete pipes that carries waste such as domestic and industrial waste and also rain water. Since
Barangay Bonifacio consists of structures such as houses and some restaurants, it is proposed that its
drainage system must be a combined system which consists of a public drainage pipe and a rainwater
pipe separately.

All houses, dormitories, and boarding houses’ drainage pipes must be connected to the public
drainage pipe that carries domestic waste such as from septic tanks, water used in baths and laundry,
etc. These pipes are measured 1.5 meters in diameter and must be placed 2-3 meters under the ground
and will be laid all around Barangay Bonifacio. The public drainage pipes will be connected to a
wastewater treatment plant that treats the domestic wastewater. The treated water will now be thrown
into the river system.

The other pipe is a rainwater drainage system that carries the rainwater separately. Concrete
pipes of 1-meter in diameter will be also placed 2-3 meters under the ground but must be a minimum of
6 meters away from the public drainage pipe so that the two waste will not be mixed. The pipes can be
directly connected to the nearest river for disposal.

Layman’s term

Since marami ng nakatira sa Barangay Bonifacio at marami na rin mga business, need na mag
rehabilitate ng drainage system. Di na kaya ng dating drainage system.

Yung proposed is combined system which consists of the public drainage system and the
rainwater pipe separately. Malaki yung diameter nung public drainage system kasi maraming domestic
waste ang nage generate per day, while yung rainwater system naman, mas maliit yunng diameter kasi
di naman araw araw nag re rain and also, na pupunta sa lupa yung ibang rainwater. Di pwedeng
pagsamahin yung waste kasi yung domestic waste, may mga dumi ng tao yun which is kailangan pa I-
treat bago i-dispose sa river, while yung rainwater, it is rainwater as it is kaya pwede na agad I dispose.
