INTRODUCTION

The Alternative Learning System of District 9 has the following statements, it shall be a
catalyst of lifelong learning and through this, it dedicates to implementers, shall implement
the programs and projects utilizing various flexible strategies and providing learning
opportunities relevant to the heeds and aspirations of the learners.
The second quarter of year 2019 is all about of Literacy Mapping in 10 sitios of Barangay
Lumbo, Valencia City, Bukidnon. Our team is composed of 11 Instructional Managers, 1
Mobile Teacher and 1 District ALS Coordinator (DALSC). We have gathered data from
different sitios in all distinguished with the most number of Out of School Youth (OSY).
Last June 11, 2019 ALS implementers and all prospective learners were invited to attend the
Orientation on MyDev Modules at Lumbo Integrated School. And we are privileged to meet
our newly assigned Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS), Sir Zaldy G. Ampong, he gave
us explainable and meaningful message that inspires us, especially to the learners.
Accordingly, he wants to focus more on the skills trainings to help the learners enhance
their abilities, skills and knowledge.
On the last week of June, we had our first Completion Ceremony held at Lumbo Integrated
School, Lumbo, Valencia City, Bukidnon. It is to recognize the completers in the district and
will received awards like certificates and medals. With the support of the Division ALS Focal
Person: Sir Yeselucio N. Patriarca Jr., Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS): Sir Zaldy G.
Ampong, Education Program Especialists: Sir Michael Henry T. Codilla and Ma’am Felipa
Cuizon, Barangay Lumbo Officials headed by Hon. Captain Rogelio P. Hera, and the
Implementers. The ceremony has been successful seeing the eyes, smile and gestures of the
learners we already know their happiness and excitement. As a facilitator, we are so happy
and blessed that 90.3% passed and a completer for the batch 2018-2019 in District 9. We
made a lot of sacrifices, we crossed rough and slippery roads, we encounter some problems
that made us weak just to meet our learners and inculcate them. But these challenges
formed us to be stronger and better.

IV- Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development

 Applying of Test Materials created and revised by the Division of Valencia ALS
Coordinators and Mobile Teachers.
 Exploit available resources by the ALS implementers.

V- Physical Facilities
a) Lumbo Integrated School allowed us to use one vacant classroom as our Community
Learning center for District IX.
b) In Sitio Malingon, the Day Care Worker permitted us to use their classroom as the
Community Learning Center for the learners where we have two chairs and tables.
c) In other areas of Lumbo,Valencia City, Bukidnon, we highly ask permission in each
sitio leaders to provide as a residential houses and purok centers as Community
Learning Center for ALS.
d) Acquire computer set.

VI- Problems/Issues/Concern and Solution

a) Lack of community learning center in the locality.

Solutions: Learning sessions were conducted at a private house locally called as
payag-payag.

b) Irregular attendance of learners as the learning group sessions.

Solutions: utilized individual learning and house visitation.

c) Insufficient for the learner’s materials such as notebooks, paper, pens, etc.
Solutions: Requested materials from LGU.

VII- Suggestions/Recommendations

For successful implementation of ALS programs and projects, the following ideas are
recommended:

 Part of the equivalency process is an assessment of functional literacy practices

learned through meaningful participation in the programs.
 Knowledge on different delivery modes in implementing ALS programs.
 Use of online reference materials to supplement modular instruction.
 Trainings and orientation regarding ALS guidelines.
 Multi-media based learning and research must be encouraged to upgrade teaching
learning process.
 There should have a close coordination/partnership with other ALS field
implementers in the community being served.
 Establish more stronger connection with the Barangay Officials and tribal leaders.
 Connect and establish partnership with other non-government organizations and
private sectors to strategically implement ALS projects.
