AGENDA
PRINCIPLES
Internal collaborative moderation ensures accuracy and consistency in the understanding,
interpretation and application of the Australian Curriculum (AC) achievement standards and of the
SACE performance standards between classes and teachers. Collaborative moderation leads to
assessment task review and refinement.
PROTOCOLS
Our collaborative moderation protocols create safe conditions for productive professional learning.
These protocols refer to the behaviours and language that colleagues use during the collaborative
moderation process aligned to our school values.
Respect: Teachers respect each colleague’s professional opinion and the collaborative moderation
process.
Care and Compassion: Teachers accept the diversity of our students and teachers, and do not make
judgment on the capacity of individuals.
Honesty: Teachers recognise and accept feedback on their assessment decisions and reflect honestly
on their practice and commit to improving pedagogy.
PROCESS
1. Moderating teams will be established and student folios distributed (refer to tables on
reverse).
2. Moderating teams are to review the student samples at each grade band and look for
evidence in the student work that reflects the grade given by the teacher.
3. Moderating teams discuss the evidence and complete the ‘Moderator Feedback Sheet’
for each piece moderated.
4. Teachers discuss/read feedback from moderators and where grades were not confirmed,
engage in professional reflection and relevant action.
5. Teachers engage in the discussion about tasks and rubrics facilitated by Curriculum
Leader.
