I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:

 Determine the positive, comparative and superlative degree of comparison


 Identify the degrees of comparison in the given sentences
 Construct sentences using degrees of comparison

The students will identify the given picture and analyze each of it.

The teacher asks the students on what have they noticed in the pictures.
D. Lesson Proper

Degrees of comparison refers to an adjectives being written in different


forms to compare one, two or more nouns which are words describing
persons, places and things.
What do we call that comparison?
Since we compare each one to the other, we call such comparison as the
degree of comparison.
There are three degrees of comparison
1. Positive form

 the positive degree speak about only one person or thing or no


comparison. It is the base form of the adjective.

2. Comparative form

 Adjectives with one syllable form their comparative degree by adding


er to the end of the word.
 Adjective with two or more syllables, add more or less before the
adjective word.

3. Superlative form

 compare more than two person or thing with one another. Expresses
the highest degree.

E. Activity

The teacher will asks the students to provide the correct degree of
comparison in the parenthesis to complete the following sentences.
1. Patty is (short) ___than her brother.
2. The Jones family is (rich)___than smith family.
3. The room is (clean)__than hers.
4. The ball is the (big)___than orange and apple.
5. The dog is (fast)__ than turtle.
6. You are the (beautiful) ___ woman I have ever seen.
7. It is (fun)___to go to the park than to the mall.

 How many nouns are compared in the positive degree?
