Assessment
▪ Weekly lab report:
• Weekly lab report should be submitted BEFORE the day of the next
experiment to the dedicated GA’s email.
• Otherwise, your lab report will be deducted 50 % of the marks.
• Send the file in PDF format with name “Group number- experiment
number and name”.
• For example: Group A1- EXP 1 Continuous Stir Tank Reactor
(CSTR).

▪ Individual viva:
• Individual viva will be conducted on the day of the experiment (either
before the experiment starts or at the end of the experiment.
• 80 % of the individual viva marks will be deducted if the students
come late to the experiment.
• Respective GA will record down the student’s name.
• Kindly remind the GA if they do not conduct the viva on that day.
• Kindly inform me if the GA asked your group to perform the viva in the
following week.

19
Assessment
▪ Open-ended Lab
• Please prepare the experiment procedures beforehand.
• Experiment procedures are required to be submitted to the
respective GA for evaluation (5 %) on the day of the experiment.
▪ Test
• Test will be conducted on 24 October 2019 (Thursday),
8-9 pm, Venue TBA.
• Students are only required to answer the first 5 experiments that
they have conducted.
• All questions are MCQ.

▪ Peer Review Form

• Please submit the peer-review form (hardcopy) to my pigeon hole
at Block 5, Level 3, on 6 November 2019, before 5pm.

20
Assessment
▪ Final long report:
• Final long report will be based on the week-7's experiment
conducted by individual group.
• Weekly report for the week-7's experiment is not required, it
is replaced by the final long report
• For the format of long report and content please refer to the
attachment in the ULearn.
• Due date for final long report is on 6 November 2019,
before 5pm
• Kindly submit the final long report to the dedicated GA’s email
in PDF format.
• Name the final long report file as: “FLR-Group number-
experiment number and name”
• E.g. FLR- Group A1- EXP 1 Continuous Stir Tank Reactor
(CSTR)

Lab replacement
Lab replacement is only allowed if the students are:
▪ Representing university to participate in
events/competitions (provide exemption letter)
▪ Sickness (provide medical leave letter from UTP
clinic)

Remark:
1. Please note that the viva session for the lab
replacement will be conducted by me. Kindly drop
an email to me for the viva session appointment.
2. The lab report writing is still following the original
group. The lab replacement is only for the hands-
on purpose.

GA - Responsibilities

1. Attend all lab session on time. No excuse for

late coming. Otherwise, 2 hours of GA works
will be deducted.
2. You are not allow to leave the students during
the lab session (e.g. to conduct your own
experiments, to meet supervisor, to attend
workshop and etc.). The students will report to
me and you may not be given any GA hour for
the lab session.
3. Please make sure the students (and yourself)
are wearing lab coat and cover shoes.
4. Do not have a crowd and noisy discussion with
other GAs during the lab session. You are
suppose to monitor the students progress.

24
GA - Responsibilities

1. Perform the weekly viva-voce during the lab

session. Do not ask the students to come and
perform the viva-voce on the following week
as it will disturbs their lab session.
2. The student will send the softcopy of weekly
lab report and final long report (last week
experiment) to your email. Please mark the
lab reports and give comments on the report.
After that, deposit the marked lab report to
