Enable  file  sharing  
Windows  File  Sharing  may  not  be  enabled.  If  it’s  disabled,  please  use  the  
following  steps  to  enable  it.  
1.  Launch  Control  Panel,  click  “Network  and  Sharing  Center”.  
2.   On   the   left   hand   side,   click   the   link   "Change   advanced   sharing  
settings".  
3.  Select  "Turn  on  network  discovery".  
4.  Select  "Turn  on  file  and  printer  sharing".  
5.  Select  "Turn  on  password  protected  sharing".  
6.  Click  "Save  changes".  

 
Share  a  folder  
1.   Select   a   folder   in   Windows   Explorer,   right-­‐click   and   choose  
"Properties"  
2.   In   the   Properties   window   select   the   "Sharing"   tab.   You   should   now  
see  the  window  to  the  right.  Click  the  "Advanced  Sharing..."  button.  
The   window   below   should   now   appear.   Select   "Share   this   folder"   and  
then   enter   a   Share   Name   that   this   folder   will   be   known   by   on   the  
network.   By   default,   the   folder   will   be   shared   for   read-­‐only   access   for  
the   user   who   creates   the   share.   If   you   wish   to   change   this   security,   click  
the   "Permissions"   button   and   choose   the   level   of   access   that   you  
require.  

 
Find  Windows  User  Name  and  Password  
Due  to  security  consideration,  you  have  to  use  username  and  password  
access   Windows   shares.   Please   follow   the   instructions   below   to   find  
your  username  and  password.  
1.  Open  Control  Panel.    
2.  Open  User  Accounts.  You’ll  see  the  login  user  name.  
3.   If   you   haven’t   set   password,   please   click   the   “Create   a   password”  
button  to  create  it.  

Find  computer  IP  Address  (optional)  

Alternatively,  you  could  input  the  computer  IP  address  in  the  “Computer  
Name/IP”   field,   then   you   don’t   need   input   “DNS   Domain   Suffix”   field  
anymore.  Please  follow  the  steps  below  to  find  your  computer  IP.  
1.  Click  Start,  and  then  select  All  Programs.  
2.  Click  Accessories,  and  then  Command  Prompt.    
3.  At  the  command  prompt,  enter:  ipconfig  
4.  You’ll  be  see  the  window  like  the  screenshot  below.  The  IP  Address  or  
IPv4  Address  is  the  IP  of  your  computer.

Enable  file  sharing  
Windows  File  Sharing  may  not  be  enabled.  If  it’s  disabled,  please  use  the  
following  steps  to  enable  it.  
1.  Select  a  folder  in  windows  explorer  
2.  Right  click  and  choose  "Sharing  and  Security..."  
3.  If  the  window  is  like  the  screenshot  below,  file  sharing  is  not  enabled.  
Click  the  link  highlighted  to  enable  file  sharing  

 
Share  a  folder  
Then  you  should  see  one  of  screenshots  below.  Select  the  checkbox  and  
input  the  “Share  name”,  then  click  “OK”.

Q.   I   follow   the   settings   in   user   manual,   but   I   still   can’t   connect   my   PC  
from  Remote  File  Manager.  What  do  I  do?  
A.   Please   use   Ping   command   to   identify   whether   your   PC   and   iOS   device  
are  connectible.  Please  follow  the  steps  below  to  ping  your  device  from  
PC.  
1.   Open   the   Remote   File   Manager   and   start   the   built-­‐in   FTP   Server.   In  
the  example  below,  the  IP  of  my  iPhone  is  ‘192.168.1.112’  

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
2.  Open  the  Command  Prompt,  and  run  ping  command  to  ping  the  IP  of  
your  device.  

 
Q.  I  successfully  ping  my  device  from  PC.  But  I  still  can’t  connect  my  PC  
from  device.    
A.  Please  use  the  Computer  IP  address  to  connect,  instead  of  Computer  
Name.
