Grading System:

30% Class Standing (15% Recitation, 10% Quizzes, 5% Prelim Exam)


30% Midterm Exam

Requirements:

1. MANDATORY: 40 case summaries handwritten in yellow pad. Deadline: Day of


Midterms.
a. Components of a case summary: (NOTE: No facts needed.)
i. Case Title/GR #/Date
ii. Act: Act complained of
iii. Tort: Whether tortious or not
iv. Basis: Legal basis and principle why it was held tortious or otherwise
v. Award: Details of monetary award, if any
b. Case assignments depend on the last digit of the Student Number:
i. Cases 1-40: Student Numbers ending in 0 and 1
ii. 41-80: ending in 2 and 3
iii. 81-120: ending in 4, 5, and 6
iv. 121-160: ending in 7, 8, and 9
2. OPTIONAL:
a. Case digests in large notebook. It is the student’s choice how many cases from the
list of cases he/she wants to digest. These shall be counted as a special quiz (one
digest = 2 points). Deadline: Three weeks before Finals.
b. For a +5% incentive in the Finals, Articles 19 – 35 and 2176 – 2235 of the New
Civil Code handwritten in yellow pad. Deadline: Day of Finals

Ground Rules:

- Always bring at least five (5) sheets of yellow pad.


- Recitation will be conducted every class session. If not present when called, a grade of 50 shall
be given.
- Expect to have at least one (1) quiz every class session.
- No adjustments shall be made in the computation of the final grade.

- Students who earned any final grade lower than 70 shall be given a final grade of 70.
- If a student fails to take the Prelims or Midterms with valid reason, he/she will not be given a
special exam but his/her grades will be less 10% of the succeeding major exam (Midterms for
missed Prelims and Finals for missed Midterms).
- If a student fails to take the Prelims or Midterms without any valid reason, he/she shall earn a
grade of zero (0).
