Fasten off leaving a small tail of yarn to be
weave and secure between stitches. (1 st)

LEFT EARFLAP

Lay your hat in a flap surface and lay it down

as show in the picture below. You want the
earflap to overlap in front.

Counting from the edge of your left side of the

hat – as is sitting in from of you – count 5 sts.
That is where we will start our next earflap.
As you can see I am marking the st with my
needle…
Repeat round 1-13. This time do not fasten off.

EDGE
The edge of the hat is very simple… you will Ch 1, and sc in each st around. At the end of the
earflap you will want to make 4 sts, this is with the purpose of giving the edge of the earflap a
round shape. sl st in top of first st join. Fasten off leaving a small tail of yarn that you will
weave between stitches to secure the end.

This is what your hat should look like at this point.

This is what your hat should look like at this point.

Use your finger to shape the hat, lay the hat in a flat surface and compare to the picture above.
If your hat has a weird shape… recount your stitches base on the size of the hat that you are
making, count your rounds, check your gauge. If you are using a bulky type of yarn take in
count that your gauge will be different affecting the size of the hat.
EARS
Make two
Round 1. Using white yarn. Ch 4 (count as first dc), work 14 dc in first ch. Sl st in top of ch-3
to join. Fasten off. (15 st)

Round 2. Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st in top of first sc. (15 sc) ) Fasten off.

Round 3. Attach your white yarn. Ch 1, sc in each st. sl st in ch-2 to join. (15 sc) Fasten off
leaving 8" tail to sew ear on.
NOSE
Start by working a loop using one string of your cotton yarn. Ch 3.
Round 1. Work 10 hdc in first chain. sl st on top of first st join. (10 sts) Fasten off and
leave a tail long enough to later sew the nose to the hat.

EYES – make two.

Start by working a loop using one string of your cotton yarn. Ch 3.

Round 1. Work 10 hdc in first chain. sl st on top of first st join. (10 sts) Fasten off and
leave a tail long enough to later sew the nose to the hat.

Round 2. Ch 1, work 2 sc on each of next 2 sts, hdc and dc in next st, 2 dc in each of the next 4
st. dc and hdc in next st, sc in each of the last sts. sl st on top of first st to join. (20 sts) Fasten
off and leave a tail long enough to later sew the eyes to the hat.

.
FLOWER
Star by working 2 ch using your pink yarn.
Round 1.- Ch 1. work 5 sc in first chain. Sl st in top of first sc.
Round 2.- * Ch 4, 3 dc in same st, 3 ch and sl st in same base sc. Sl st in to next st and repeat
from * to make 4 more petals. Fasten off weave and secure ends.

BRAIDS
Cut 24 pieces - 38” lengths of yarn and divide into 2 groups of 12 ( 4 of each color). Fold one
bunch of 12 in half and push the folded end through the bottom space of the earflap. Pull the two
ends, each of 12 strands, through the folded loop and pull up neatly, keeping the two ends the
same length. Braid these 24 strands gently and tie an overhand knot near the end to stop the
braid from unraveling.

Complete the second earflap braid in the same way.

Assembling
At this point you have all the pieces that you will need to assemble your cute bear hat.
Set up everything in order in front of you and make sure you have your tapestry needle, sewing
needle and thread to attach the buttons, and scissors.

1.- First, sew the ears,

2.- Sew the nose.
3.- Sew in the eyes, and finally sew in the flower: you can do it by using pink yarn and sewing
in like in the picture below or adding a button in the center, or a hairclip so that it can be remove
or exchange with other flower.
