FIELD STUDY 5

EPISODE 4

______________________________________________________________________

Name of the Student: Juliet B. Matutes

Resource Teacher: Mrs. Ma. May Uldalliah A. Sarapuddin
Signature:
School: Ipil National High School

Your Target

At the end of this activity, you will be skillful in designing process – oriented performance
assessment.

Your Way

Now that you have deeply and principled understood the priceples and concepts of
authentic assessment, and learned lessons from teachers’ experiences in using it in the
classroom, you can now go through the process of designing performance assessment
by walking through these steps:

1. Visit a class and identify performance – based activities.

2. Choose one performance – based activity and study its processes.

3. Design a performance assessment plan for the activity you have chosen.

4. Collect samples of performance-based assessment tools.

5. Reflect on your experience.

Your Tools

As you observed a class, note down your important observations of the performance –
based activity in the classroom. Make a checklist of the important things you wish to
consider in your assessment planning. For this tasks, please used the activity form
provided for your proposed plan for process-oriented assessment it is recommended that
you use the form that you agreed in your assessment II class. Please remember that the
rubrics are part and parcel of your assessment plan.

Observation Notes

IPIL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Year level: IV-Wisdom
Brgy. IPIL, ORMOC CITY
Date of Visit: Febuary 20, 2015
Subject Area: PHYSICS
Subject Matter: CHARACTERISTICS OF SOUND

Describe in bullets the performance – based activity you observe.

 Teacher ask the students to answer the assignment which he gave, and call a
students to answer the problem. Then I observed that the teacher wants to know
if the students were really the one who made their assignments or if they were able
to understand the lesson.
 After having a review with the student’s assignment, he delivered the new lesson
from simple to complex by giving simple examples before proceeding to
complicated lesson.
 Teacher keeps on giving of points to those students who were able to answer
correctly.
 Students execute cooperation among classmates.
 They also listen attentively to the teacher while discussing and giving instructions.
 The students answered the activity with determination and perseverance in their
respective groups.
Based on your observation, make a checklist of the important things you wish to consider
in your performance – based assessment plan.

My Checklist

 Observe the different methodologies used by the teacher in delivering the lesson.
 Determine the disciplinary actions given by the teacher for every offenses of the
students in their rules and regulations
 Find the weakness and strength of learners.
 Prepare the instructional materials.
 To know the techniques on how to maintain good atmosphere in the classroom to
deliver the lesson more effectively.

NOTES ON MY PROCESS – ORIENTED ASSESSMENT PLAN

Name of school: IPIL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
School Address: Brgy. IPIL. ORMOC CITY
Year level: IV- Wisdom
Subject Matter: DISCRETE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS AND CALCULATION OF
THE VALUE OF RESISTOR

What are the best features of my process – oriented performance assessment

design?

The best feature of my process-oriented assessment method is to make sure that the
lesson is suitable to the interest of the learners. The problems must be moderately difficult
and it should measures the ability of the students. Presenting real objects will be easily
for them to relate the lesson in real-life situation.
What specific conditions are necessary for a successful use of my process –
oriented performance assessment design?

Students were group and given activity. Students must solicit their ideas that will served
as a key to capture the common goal and solve the problem. They must write the results
or solutions on a manila paper before end up discussing how they come up with that
answer.

What basic points should the user of this design consider?

The basic points that should be consider in this design are the learners. Students must
be given attention in terms with their abilities and another is the materials to be used it
should be well planned for the success of the design.

Your Analysis

Why do teachers need to give attention to the students’ process – oriented tasks?
Why do they need to assess them?

Process is more important because it tells us the way students perform well on creating
output products.

In what conditions can the process – oriented performance assessment be used more
appropriately?

Assess more appropriately if the conditions are settled enough like the environment and
mood of teachers. And if the interest of pupils were attain then a teacher can execute the
process assessment.
Your Reflections

Make reflections on your feelings and thoughts about the observations made in this FS.

Making this process – oriented assessment method is kind challenging in my part. The
important here, is that you will know your students, their interest and their learning styles.
Teaching should be students centered not teacher centered. Students must gain lesson
and they should be involve in the learning process. In assessing the students it is very
important to use methods and strategies that really measures the learning of the students,
this is by the use of a performance-based activity that enable to measure the real learning
of the students. Thus giving incentives will motivate the students to participate that would
make the discussions lively.
