of manuscript, the word ”tragicomedy” is like show in this drama will be contain of 2 genre
that is tragical and also comedy. Meanwhile, in this drama is not found the comedy situation.
Only tragic that has been happened, such as at the end of drama, Estragon and Vladimir are
dead.
In other hand, according to Ionesco, comedy in this drama can not describe as general

As same as drama in general, this drama also have some aspect, such as background,

Theme
The theme of Waiting for Godot is about life. In this drama showed that Vladimir and

they spend their time for useless things, such as talk about a topic but never finished it. Even
so old they wait, the other characters, Pozzo and Lucky are blind and deaf. The day passed
quickly.
This situation, show that in real life, such as a human who want to find certainty for
the life. Human have God, meanwhile human can not see the God and asking about existence
of God. Furthermore, human still believe the existence of God. Human believe there are
something outside of human mind that as arranger of everything in this life. However, the
God never come to human as same as with Godot.

I. Extrinsic aspect

Vladimir: The point is
Estragon: until he comes.
Vladimir: You’re merciless
In that script, the arrival of Godot means a rescue. At the very least, they could soon
be free from the attachment of waiting for Godot. This remind us of the coming of Christ as
written in Christian teaching.

hours. Now . . . (he shudders). So much the worse for me. Well, would you like him to think
something for us?
ESTRAGON: I'd rather he dance, it'd be more fun.
POZZO: Not necessarily.
ESTRAGON: Wouldn't it, Didi, be more fun?

ESTRAGON: Perhaps he could dance first and think afterwards, if it isn't toomuch to ask.
VLADIMIR: (to Pozzo). Would that be possible?POZZO: By all means, nothing simpler. It's
the natural order.(He laughs briefly)
VLADIMIR: Then let him dance.Silence.
POZZO: Do yu hear, hog?
AESTRAGON: He never refuses?
POZZO: He refused once. (Silence.) Dance, misery!
