1. Review
- Last meeting we learned about the
formation of a volcano. This time we
will have an activity. Look at the
picture on the screen. Rearrange them
in proper sequence in order to describe
how a volcano originates.

[show pictures]

-Which of the three pictures is the first - Picture B ma’am

formation of a volcano?
- Very good. How about the second formation - Picture C ma’am
of a volcano?
- And the last formation is… - Picture A ma’am
- Exactly. Picture B shows that a crack beneath
the earth crust extends to the surface and
widens. Picture C illustrates hot molten
materials spew out of the vent. And picture C
presents a mounting structure that forms
around the cone.

2. Motivation
- I have an activity for you. I will group
you into 4. You are going to arrange
the jumbled puzzle in order to comeup
with a picture. Representative of each
group get your puzzle here. I will give
you 5 minutes to do the activity.

Direction. Arrange the puzzle in order to come

up with a picture

{Puzzle}

- What are you going to arrange? - Puzzle ma’am

- Why are you going to arrange the - To come up with a picture
puzzle?
- What were you able to form? - A picture ma’am
- What picture is that? - A volcano ma’am
- Have you seen a volcano? - Yes/no ma’am
- Do you know that we have a volcano in - Yes/no ma’am
our province?
- We have a volcano here, we call it Mt.
Pusuey. It is located at Bani Boliney,
Abra.
- If the volcano will show sign of - Listen to people with authority for
eruption, what are you going to do? instruction, Stock foods and water, etc.

- You should prepare all things that you

need and evacuate if necessary

Raising of the problem

- What else do you want to know about a - What are the parts of a volcano
volcano?
-
Giving of hypotheses
- What do you think are the parts of a
volcano? - Lava
- Pipe
- Magma chamber
- Magma
- Ash
- Vent

B. Lesson Proper
- Today class we are going to learn
about the parts of a volcano

1. Presentation
- I will present a video about parts of a
volcano. Before we start what are the - Open your eyes, zipper your mouth
things needed when you are watching? Open your ears and understand what
you are watching

many parts does a volcano have? - 4 ma’am
- So now, let us discuss the parts of a
volcano.
- On the board there are four volcanoes
here, we will crack the volcanoes one
by one in order to find out what are its
parts
- Who will come the board and crack the - Crater it is the hollowed-out area at the
first volcano then read what is written top of a volcano
on it
- What part of the volcano is shown? - Crater ma’am
- Where can you find the crater? - At the top of a volcano ma’am
- How do you describe the crater? - It is hallowed out and bowl shaped

[show picture of crater]

- Come to the board and crack the second - Vent are common at the top of a

[ picture of vent]
- Where do you find the vent? - At the crater of a volcano ma’am

- What is a vent? - It is an opening ma’am

- What is the use of the vent? - It is where the magma comes out
- Who will crack the third volcano then
read what is written on it
- How do you describe a pipe? - It is vertical crack ma’am
-
- What is the use of the pipe? - It is where the magma passes through
- What does the pipe connect? - It connects the magma chamber and the
earth surface
- Crack the last volcano - Magma chamber is a large pocket of
magma from underground

- What is shown? - Magma chamber

- To what object are you going to
compare the magma chamber? - Large pocket ma’am
- What does it contains? - Molten rocks ma’am
- Where do you find the magma - Beneath the earth crust ma’am
chamber?
- Yes, a magma chamber is a pool of
molten rock. Those melted rock are
called magma. When magma flows out
the volcano is called lava

Checking of hypotheses
- Are your guesses correct? - Yes ma’am

3. Group Activity
- This time I will group you into 4. I
want you to make your own volcano - Give encouragement,
using the materials inside the box. Respect
Label its part then give name to your Others
volcano. Follow the steps on the screen Understand the activity
on how to form a volcano. Participate actively
Representative of each group get your
box here. Before we start, what are the
things needed when working as group?
- I will give you 10 minutes to do the
activity, your time start now.

Direction. Make a model of a volcano then
