Reflect on and summarise your progress against the professional learning goals you identified
against the Graduate Standards (Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional
Engagement) in Activity 1 of the Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) and identify your goals
for the remainder of your placement. Discuss this with your mentor teacher and University Liaison

So far on my final placement, I believe I have demonstrated a level of deep understanding of the
requirements for teaching. I have developed positive relationships with my students, thus able to
effectively understand how my students learn. This transcends through to my ability to notice their
social, physical and emotional needs within the classroom, and how this will lend itself to a
successful learning environment. I also can confidently ask for assist and guidance when difficult
situations present themselves. I can specify the required content knowledge needed for certain
lessons at stages of the learning process to make for effective learning. Working within a multi-year
level classroom, I can identify the appropriate achievement standards and plan effectively for each
year level to achieve relevant standards needed. I continuously reflect on each lesson, attempting to
refine tasks and my teaching approach to make sure all students are involved and comfortable within
the learning process I present.

Due to the student demographic within the classroom, I would like to improve my differentiation skills
for learning activities. Also, with certain students offering varying degree of behavioural challenges, I
would like to improve behavioural strategies to effectively manage challenging behaviour in the
classroom. In doing so, it will make my teaching more effective and inclusive for all students within
the classroom. I intend to achieve this by continuing to embody the school’s strategies in behaviour
management and differentiate in a multitude of ways to identify the best route for certain students
success.

Furthering this, I would like to develop my confidence in Maths. I am conscious that Maths is an area
where teaching strategies need to be developed. My confidence in my own ability to transfer my
content knowledge to appropriate strategies in the upper years would make for a smoother and more
refined teaching practice.

I was able to quickly adopt the school’s approach to behaviour management. I find the school’s
approach to be a natural way of speaking. However, I implemented my own behavioural system
within the classroom to establish my own expectations and a reward system. I am able to use
questions and the language of learning for classroom management and engaging students in the
learning. I attempt to vary teaching strategies to maintain a balanced approach to student learning
styles; creating an inclusive and supportive environment. Throughout, my assessment approaches;
formative and summative have been clear and concise. I also try to vary feedback style to
accommodate for individual students.

I am working on my feedback processes. I am currently attempting to refine my feedback to be

effective as possible. I am trying to improve the content of my feedback and behavioural approaches
with certain challenging students. I am currently using questions as a way to manage behaviour,
instead of directly telling students what is needed.

My enthusiasm to continue developing my practice means I have a drive to engage in every

professional opportunity possible. I regularly attend meetings with colleagues, parents and staff
members from neighbouring schools. I have attended professional development days which has
contributed to successfully implementing learning within a group project with a neighbouring High
School. I worked closely with my colleagues and mentor to co-plan a learning program that will
effectively lend itself to my individual English/literacy unit plan. I make a conscious effort to act upon
all advice and feedback given to me, not only by my mentor, but from the principle and fellow
teachers. This enables me to put forward suggestions and ideas with confidence and collaborate with
other educators about what I believe is best for student learning and the environment.

Moving forward into the final weeks of my practicum I would dot point the following as areas of focus:

1. I would like to extend my professional develop to my less confident areas of the curriculum.
Ideally, I would like to seek out Math workshops and seminars about developing this area.
2. Attempt varying differentiated approaches for learning and behavioural approaches
3. Feedback refinement
