Angular Contact Ball Bearing
Contact Angle
Contact Angle α = 40°
The axial load carrying capacity is dependent on the contact angle; i.e. the larger
the angle, the higher the load to which the bearing be subjected. Due to the
contact angle of 40°these bearings can support high axial loads.

Clearance
The radial internal clearance applies to bearings with an inner
ring before the bearing is fitted. It is defined as the amount by
which the inner ring can be moved in a radial direction from
one extrem position in relation to the outer ring

Deep Groove Ball Bearing
Cage
What are the functions of the cage?
n It separates the rolling elements from each other
n It maintains the rolling elements at the same distance from each other
n In bearings where the parts can be separated or swivelled out in
relation to each other, it prevents the rolling elements falling out
Unloaded zone

46
Cage – Selection
1. The plastic cage has its own advantages for weight, noise, and flexibility
2. Strength comparison between two metallic cages i.e. steel and brass cage
3. Brass cage has emergency running behavior, easy to machine with accuracy
4. New bearings are with pressed steel cage, machined brass cage is expensive

48
Rolling bearing designations
What is the reason for rolling bearing designations
?
If you know the designation, you can save time and money!
Example:
You order a replacement bearing and do not state the correct
designation.
Result:
You cannot repair your machine
Your production is at a standstill
You have unnnecessary extra work and spend additional wasted
time ordering the correct rolling bearing
