Section 1-TITLE
“Medical Technology Act of 1969”
Section 2-Definition of Terms
-The Practice of Medical Technology
-The Healthcare Professionals behind the Profession
*Pathologist-a duly Registered Physician, especially
Trained in Laboratory Medicine or Pathology
(Anatomical/Clinical or Both) Certified by the Philippine
Board of Pathologists. The Director of the Clinical
Laboratory
*Medical Technologist- a person who engages in the
work of Medical Technology under the Supervision of a
Pathologist or a Licensed Physician authorized by the
DOH in places where there is no Pathologist.
*Pathology-Practice of Medicine which contributes to
the Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Treatment through
knowledge gained by Laboratory applications of the
biologic, chemical or physical sciences to man or
material obtained from a man.
***Anatomic/Forensic Pathology-Diagnosis or
confirmation of diseases is through autopsy
examination and cellular differentiation of autopsy and
surgical tissues
***Clinical Pathology- specializes in chemical,
microbiological and hematologic procedures.
*Medical Technician- a person certified and registered
with Board as qualified to Assist a Medical Technologist
and/or qualified Pathologist in the practice of Medical
Technology as defined in this act.
NOTE: THE RATIO OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST TO
MEDICAL TECHNICIAN IS 1:2
*Accredited Medical Technology Training Laboratory-a
Clinical Laboratory, Office, Agency, Clinic, Hospital or
Sanitarium duly approved by the DOH or its authorized
agency.

Note: The Board of examiners shall submit the Schedule -Released of Fraudulent Results
to the Commissioner of Civil Service of PRC for Section 30-Separability Clause
