Concept: SRAN OAM architecture - What is changing

Slide title: SRAN OAM architecture - What is changing

Flat OAM architecture

• SBTS directly integrated to NetAct
• no OMS for SBTS
New common OAM for SBTS
• One harmonized common OAM for SBTS
• Totally new OAM features, no feature parity with existing single RAT BTSs
New SBTS information model
• New root object representing SBTS. Logical RNW model is assumed to be reused, changes in HW
and transport model
Web UI is replacing the current BTS Site Manager
• Totally new OAM features, no feature parity with BTS Site Manager
• No need to install Nokia dedicated tool
New approach to support different BTS configurations with BTS profiles

BTS Mediator
Introduction
• New network element introduced outside physical
BTS
NetAct
• Implements mediation function for BTS m-plane
• BTS Mediator (IMP) elementary functionality is to NE3S agent
provide Info Model conversion from the SCF file
(RAML format) into corresponding IMI format (binary NE3S interface
Logical
representative) m-plane
• Converts format between NE3S and SOAM interface. BTS Mediator
NE3S (xml format) interface towards NetAct and
SOAM (binary format) interface towards BTS SOAM Physical
• Binary protocol on SOAM interface (BTS Mediator interface m-plane
<-> SBTS) allows lower bandwidth thus higher
capacity and synchronization speed
• BTS Mediator as SW entity is managed from NetAct
as network element
• BTS Mediator is deployed as virtual machine in SBTS SBTS

BTS Mediator PM roles

Technical Details

BTS Mediator works as proxy for PM data. NetAct

All PM files from BTSs are transferred to NE3S and

forwarded directly to NetAct. PM

BTS Mediator doesn’t store any PM data.

BTS Mediator
BTS Mediator doesn’t do any aggregation of PM data.

BTS Mediator FM roles

Technical Details

BTS Mediator converts alarms to OFaS format and NetAct

forwards alarm content to NetAct

BTS Mediator generates also own alarms FM

BTS Mediator supervises the link towards the BTS and

Consistency checks for parameters:
Parameter value depends on another parameter value
Parameter value range depends on another parameter value
Parameter value matches regular expression
Parameter default value depends on other parameter value
Multiplicity of parameter depends on value of related parameter
Parameter value is calculated from related parameter value
Parameter is mandatory if related parameter has value X
Parameter must not be configured if condition Y
Parameter is composed from related parameter
Parameter is unique
Consistency checks for objects:
Minimum number of instances of managed object M depends on value of parameter P
Maximum number of instances of managed object depends on value of related parameter
Managed object is possible only if related managed object exists
Managed object is not allowed if related managed object exists
Managed object M is only available if related parameter has value X

SBTS support for 36 TRX

SR001017
GSM system max TRX capacity also for SBTS
This feature enables SBTS to achieve the system
level maximum GSM TRX capacity per one SBTS
Site
With the previous SBTS releases the maximum GSM
capacity of 24 TRXs per FSMF was achieved by
using just two BB processors optimally.
Operator is able to use the maximum GSM system
TRX capacity per system module for SBTS sites by
allocating more System Module processor capacity
for GSM technology, where that extra GSM TRX
capacity was needed.
