Question 2.

a):

i. We use a Chi-Square Test because both our variables (Gender and Internet Shopping) are
categorical in nature.
ii. Null Hypothesis: There is no statistical association between gender and internet shopping
Alternative Hypothesis: There is statistical association between gender and internet
shopping.
iii. p-value= 0.065
iv. Initially, we see that there is overlap in the error bar diagram, we make the basic inference
that there is no association between the two variables. On conducting Chi-Sq test, we find
that p-value (=0.065) is >0.05, so we do not reject the null hypothesis at 95% confidence
interval and can definitively conclude that there is no association between the variables.
v. Hypothesis: There is no statistical association between gender and internet shopping.

Question 2.b):

i. We use a Chi-Square Test because both our variables (Gender and Internet Banking) are
categorical in nature.
ii. Null Hypothesis: There is no statistical association between gender and internet banking
Alternative Hypothesis: There is statistical association between gender and internet banking.
iii. P-value= 0.005
iv. Initially, we see that there is no overlap in the error bar diagram, we make the basic
inference that there is association between the two variables. On conducting Chi-Sq test, we
find that p-value (=0.005) is <0.05, so we reject the null hypothesis at 95% confidence
interval and can definitively conclude that there is association between the variables.
v. Alternate Hypothesis: There is statistical association between gender and internet banking.

Question 2.c):

i. We use a Chi-Square Test because both our variables (Gender and Internet Banking) are
categorical in nature.
ii. Null Hypothesis: There is no statistical association between internet shopping and internet
banking
Alternative Hypothesis: There is statistical association between internet shopping and
internet banking.
iii. P-value= 0.127
iv. Initially, we see that there is no overlap in the error bar diagram, we make the basic
inference that there is association between the two variables. On conducting Chi-Sq test, we
find that p-value (=0.127) is >0.05, so we do not reject the null hypothesis at 95% confidence
interval and can definitively conclude that there is no association between the variables.
v. Null Hypothesis: There is no statistical association between internet shopping and internet
banking.
Question 3.a):

i. We use a Independent Sample T-Test because Familiarity with the Internet (continuous
variable) is grouped according to a categorical variable (gender).
ii. Null Hypothesis: There is no statistical association between Gender and Familiarity with the
Internet.
Alternative Hypothesis: There is statistical association between Gender and Familiarity with
the Internet.
iii. P-value:
iv. ...
v. ...
