Background of the study

The purpose of this study is to make the incoming grade 11 students to be aware
if they choose automotive field in Senior High School. The stakeholders will be
aware about the current situation of the graduate automotive student, and it will be
helpful to have an efficient and effective utilization to our school especially to the
student.

Tracer study is a kind of study which evaluate the results of education and
training provided at a given institution. It brings certain types of information
concerning the level of employment, unemployed, and underemployed among the
graduates, the contemporary undergraduate experience the first and current
position of graduates and correspondence between educational qualification and
required work skills. Results of said study can often demonstrate the success of
education and training in relation to the graduates, labor market and employees and
to produced globally competitive professionals.

A tracer study or graduate survey is conducted among graduates of education

institutions which may take place some time after graduates. The most common
questions the survey would like to determine are the transition to work, work
entrance, job career use to learned competencies, current occupation and bonds to
the education institution ( Pontillas,2018).

According to Pontillas (2018). Tracer study whose objectives are to determine the
graduates employment/unemployment rate, the reasons of unemployment, what
programs are most sought, what type of graduates are most employable, waiting
time before employment, reasons for staying in the job, competencies learned in
college and correlates graduates employability.
It was understood that tracer study is a tool used to monitor and evaluate training
programs and curriculum. It is important to be able to determine the effectiveness
in provision of learning and skills to the students. Conducting graduate tracer
studies will help to recognize the needs for improvement of the graduates and to
develop a better disposition to those who are still in the program. Quality and
adequacy of staffs, and good graduate performance will reflect the quality of
education (Kebedom,2010).

Through this study parents will be informed if their son or daughter choose
this kind of field because they can already figure out what will happen to their
children in the future by basing the background of past automotive student.It will
give a great impact to the society because though this study other people will have
a enough knowlege on what are the possible career does there children will have if
they are planning to take the TVL Automotive strand when they reach at SHS
level.
