I have tried to first evaluate the pros of hiring older employees as opposed to younger employees

before proceeding to the cons.

1) Experience – for certain jobs, job experience is a huge factor. Experienced employees bridge
the gap from teaching from scratch to jumping right into the thick of things.

2) Less supervision – they definitely do not need as much supervision as a just out of college
hire.

3) Fewer chances of mistakes – they have made their mistakes and hopefully learned from them.

4) Takes lead – having probably worked at other places before, they feel confident enough to
take charge and lead the team.

5) Mentorship – older employees are able (and willing) to mentor younger, less-experienced
employees.

6) Clients – older employees might just have a list of contacts and networking that will be useful
in the growth of the firm.

7) Patience – apart from the odd temper tantrum, they display more patience to teach and to
communicate with the team.

8) Loyalty – it comes with the package.

9) Punctuality – this is one of those old tradition school things but punctuality is common and
important to their generation.

The pros of hiring younger employees as opposed to older employees can be listed as follows:

1) Adept at technology – younger employees have grown up in the lap of technology and are
therefore much more proficient at it than the older generation.

2) More risk-taking – they just might be more open to the idea of risks (this might not necessarily
go down well for the company but they at least had the courage to take that chance. Older
employees are more cautious and less open to something and who knows, the risks might pay
off).

3) Dynamic – I do know of 60-year-old CEO’s who have been nothing but dynamic all their
lives and that is why they are at the top. But younger blood with more ideas, fresh out of college
and enthusiastic might be just what is needed to revitalize the company.

4) Flexibility – older employees tend to have their own set of ideas and notions and cannot adapt
easily to the changing mindset. Younger employees generally have a flexible attitude because
they are more adept at changing (it’s a millennial thing maybe) and can pick up on such changes
sooner (without grumbling).

5) Expectation of Salary – the older employees come with some experience and want to be
compensated for the fact that their previous skill has saved some training of the employers and
therefore they must be compensated for the same. Younger employees are more than happy that
they are being paid as the job is a place where they start off and learn (they know that their salary
is not going to be through the roof).

6) Physical attribute – though it sounds ageist, it is true that older employees do face certain
physical drawbacks as compared to younger employees and the strenuous work can take a toll on
their health.

A cashless society is the one in which people use more Credit and Debit Cards instead of
carrying Cash in their wallets. I believe that a community which is cashless has lots of benefits to
offer. I will discuss both benefits and drawbacks of the cashless society in the upcoming
paragraphs.

To begin with the demerits, first of all, if the society goes cashless altogether, it can become
more spend-thrift. If people carry cards all the time and every shop and vendor has a swiping
machine available, people can become impulse buyers and end up purchasing things which they
do not even require. Next, as the cards are tiny, they can easily drop from the pockets, and people
can lose a lot of money if they do not notice it promptly.

On the contrary, there are plenty of benefits of going cashless. The most significant advantage is
that people need not carry bulky wallets all the time. These days, there are Smartphone cases
available, which have a card pocket made in them. People can keep all their cards in them and
save their pocket space. Furthermore, carrying cards is safer because even if people lose them,
they can promptly intimate their Bank to cancel their card on the spot. But, if they have cash in
their wallet, and they lose it, they can never get the money back.

Moreover, paying by card saves money in long run. For example, if we purchase an item for
$24.48 and we pay in cash, it gets rounded off, and we are supposed to pay $24.50. But if we tap
the card instead, we spend the exact amount. It might not appear to be a significant saving, but
when we always use the card to pay for everything, we can save a lot of money.

In conclusion, becoming cashless brings in just a few disadvantages, but if people stay more
conscious, they can avail a plethora of its advantages. Every country should go cashless and lead
a secure life.

Social Media vs. Traditional Media

Social media vs. traditional media may be beginning to look like a no-brainer comparison, but
we haven’t even gotten to the good stuff yet.
Cost

Social media marketing is far less expensive. You’ll pay a fraction of the traditional media price
to reach the same number of people (or more) and you’ll be reaching the audience you want.
And we have the numbers to prove it….

The metric used in this assessment is Cost-Per-Thousand Impressions (CPM). The CPM of
social media is less than $3. Radio comes in at around $10 and (big surprise) the CPM for TV is
a whopping $28.

Accuracy

Traditional media uses a cannon to fire it’s message hoping to hit anyone that will listen (read,
watch, etc.). Social media has the ability to target with laser precision.

Social media marketing allows you, if you so desire, to market strictly to women over 60 who
live in Cleveland, are interested in skydiving, and were recently married.

This may not exactly represent your ideal customer but it gives you an idea of how specific you
can make your marketing.

Trust

Social media marketing uses content to cultivate trust over time. Traditional marketing forces
an opinion on a buyer in hopes that it will take if repeated frequently enough.

You can use social media marketing to give your ideal buyer an opportunity to learn
everything they need to know about your product before they buy.

It also gives you the opportunity to foster relationships with them by including them in special
offers (coupons, limited runs, freebies, etc.).

Feedback

Social media marketing is a two-way street. You get the added bonus of hearing back from
your customers.

Do they prefer that your product function differently? Should it look a certain way?

You can use social media to gauge interest in new geographic markets as well.

Make the Transition to Social Media

Social media vs. traditional media. The results are in. Social beats out traditional across the
board.
Switching from traditional media to social media can be one of the most impactful things you
decide to do for your business.

Social media gives you multiple outlets to market your brand efficiently and effectively. You
may find that you need a full-scale Facebook Ads strategy implemented and continually tested
and optimized. Maybe you’re ready for expert-level content marketing.

Building deign affects the people and work

We spend 80–90% of our lives indoors, surrounded by forms, artificial light, colors, furniture
and soundscapes. Isn’t it time to ask how much these built environments affect our lives and our
personality? In this series, we explore questions about how architecture affects our thinking, our
cognitive abilities, our mental and physical well-being, and our emotions.

This research area poses questions about the effect of outdoor and indoor spaces on people in
cognitive, emotional and social terms? How can homes, offices and buildings in general be
designed and structured, so that they reduce stress or promote well-being?

“Spaces determine our behavior — for the most part without our conscious perception”

In conclusion, the arrangement, equipment and dimensioning of spaces and their design
influence the human patterns of movement, actions and usage. If spaces are created in a way that
runs counter to our patterns, it can hamper our movements and actions and cause anger or
frustration. Or, conversely, support the structures of everyday life and make us feel comfortable.

Work life balance

8 Top Tips to Promote Work-Life Balance in Your Office

1. Encourage time off

The American Sociological Association suggests a larger number of vacations lead to a decline
in the psychological distress of people.

Holidays are not a luxury, they are a necessity. A break from work will provide your employees
with the chance to switch off and enjoy themselves. They’re a great opportunity to recuperate
and recharge and it’s essential you communicate this to your teams, to improve staff productivity
and focus when they return to the office.

An effective way to encourage staff to take time off is to implement a mandatory system, where
it is required staff to use up their entire annual leave each year.

2. Implement short breaks

The human body was not designed to stare at a bright screen for hours on end without any
downtime. To combat this, it’s essential to encourage small breaks throughout the day for your
staff.

Why not consider installing a social area in your office, where people can get away from their
desks and take their minds off work?

Consider encouraging light exercise as well, to break up the day. Maybe you could introduce
walking meetings outside the office or a lunchtime running club. Some leading companies invite
meditation practitioners to run internal seminars, to enable staff to learn the best coping
mechanisms for dealing with stress, during particularly busy periods.

3. Ask employees for guidance

If you are struggling to come up with innovative ways to improve your employees’ work-life
balance, why not ask for their input?

If you notice people are struggling to find balance, then find out what changes they think would
improve their situation. Collaborating with teams will provide more insights into the way they
think and feel.

To help facilitate these discussions, consider having regularly scheduled meetings, or

implement real-time feedback programmes. This way you can accurately gauge how your people
are feeling and make adjustments to ensure they have the right balance.

4. Practice what you preach

If you tell your teams to leave on time and not work over the weekend, but you’re sending them
emails during these periods it sends mixed messages and puts pressure on your staff to mirror
your working hours.

It’s important to respect the balance and privacy of employees when they are not in the office.
This means you should avoid contacting them outside work hours and allow them to fully switch
off and recharge.

5. Offer flexible working

A flexible schedule does not mean employees can come and go at will, which is usually an
employer’s main concern. But it doesn’t need to be complex either. In fact, it can mean
something as simple as introducing employee choice when it comes to the start and end times of
their working day.

More sophisticated flexible schedules such as a four-day work week or telecommuting require
more planning, but flexible work schedules are a cornerstone of work balance, so they may still
be worth considering.
6. Time off is exactly that
A Mental Health Foundation survey revealed over 40 percent of employees resented their current
job role because the long hours meant they were neglecting other aspects of life outside of work.

With this in mind, it’s important to set up the expectation, when an employee is on holiday, they
should give themselves a proper break and enjoy spending time on leisure activities.

As an employer, make sure you honor their annual leave and don’t contact them unless it’s truly
an emergency. Give the staff a chance to relax so they return with their batteries fully charged.

7. Don’t expect overtime as the norm

Don’t confuse commitment, engagement, and dedication with 60-70 hour weeks.

It’s okay to expect employees to occasionally work long hours if an activity is particularly time-
sensitive (i.e.: a new product launch, or a trade show for a few days). However, employees can’t
sustain an extraordinary level of energy and long overtime hours as a constant work expectation.

Staff will check out, burn out, and even leave if long hours and extraordinary effort are
considered normal.

8. Consider job share or part-time options

Not all jobs require a full-time employee. Consider the talent that may be available to your
organization if you hired employees for part-time hours.

With the appropriate two people, job sharing can also work effectively for employees whom you
want to retain while they have to prioritize other personal commitments like raising a family.

Creative businesses should consider a multitude of avenues to support employees in their quest
for work-life balance.

Parents are responsible for children behavior

Why children exhibit certain behaviours?

The most common reasons are:
- frustration
- fear of something
- anger over something
- seeking attention
- peer pressure.
How children’s behaviours are shaped Children learn from everyone and everything.
Their behaviour is influenced at home, in school and practically everywhere. Some people play a
big role in shaping the behaviour of children.

Parents
Children learn a lot by watching their parents. They pick up certain behaviours from their
parents. If a child has aggressive parents, he or she may end up picking up such behaviour.

In Nigeria, where everyone is always in hurry and some people find it hard to obey traffic or stay
on the queue, some children might pick up such behaviour. Parents can sometimes serve as
negative or positive models for their children. As parents, you should behave as you would like
your children to behave because you could be shaping up your child's behaviour and personality.

Why parents are not responsible for their children’s behaviour

1. It is the responsibility of parents to train their children in the way they should go but they are
not responsible for their actions.

2. If a child behaves badly, it does not necessarily mean the parents failed at their responsibility.
There are cases of children born into good families. They were brought up right but they still
grow up to be bad.

3. Children get to certain age where they are away from parents many hours of the day and you
have less control over what they do during those hours. They meet different people and adopt
good or bad behaviours. As a parent, you struggle so hard to raise a good child who will behave
right but then, he or she turns out differently. It can be so humiliating and annoying to see a child
you struggled to raise right, misbehaving. Like they say: “You can lead a horse to water, but you
cannot make him drink.” You can train your children right and teach them good behaviour, but
they decide what they want and how they want to behave.

4. Not one person can be held responsible for the behavior of a child. As they grow older, they
begin to make decisions and choose who they let influence, inspire or corrupt them.

What is the way forward?

- Spend more time with your children and do not leave them to be brought up by maids while
you keep chasing money.
- Talk with them and ask them questions which will allow the children to share how they are
feeling, or what they going through with you.
- Do not compensate your absence from their lives with money. Sometimes, they just want your
love, care and attention and not your money.
- Do not leave the training of your children to their teachers and professors.
- Inculcate good values in your children from a tender age. Do not wait till things get out of
hand. What you do not teach your child from an early age will not develop when he / she is
older. Read more:
Medical technology is responsible for the human’s
life expectancy. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

The importance of life of expectancy of people is increasing due to the drastic development in
medical science was always a debatable topic. Many people are considering this as the greatest
achievement of technology. Others reject this notion and don't see this as positive development.
In my opinion, latter proposition appears to be more rational. The following essay would further
elaborate both sides with necessary evidence and thus lead to a plausible conclusion.

To start with, there is no denying fact that due to development in medical field has increased the
life expectancy of people. A recent data shows that average death of person has increased from
46.7 in 1990 to 59.4 in 2016. The above data shows that humans are making health-related
decisions and this achievement can be attributed to improvement in public health and medical
care. For example, new invention in medical field had found solutions to many dreadful diseases
such as cancer, HIV and many.

However, there are many pitfalls with the improvement in life expectancy, old people are living
more and more so due to that there is an increase in financial burden on families like regular
health checkups and daily visits to hospital regularly. It's good that one can stay with family for
long years but financial burden can cause conflict within the family. In addition, living long life
means a less working force for the country in terms of prosperity and less growth. Further, it
causes increasing in population and creates so many problems like poverty in people, the lack of
basic facilities and many more problems.

To conclude, advancements in medical technology creates disadvantages rather than creating

advantages for future life. In a nutshell, it can be concluded that an increase in average life
expectancy rate can put up the burden on environment and society.

Large shopping malls are replacing small shops – PTE IELTS Essay Writing

A great number of shopping malls have established in almost all cities of the world in last few
years. Due to which some people think large shopping malls are replacing small shops, they
think small shops are best for purchasing day to day items while other think shopping malls are
far better than small shops. In my opinion shopping in malls is better than shopping in small
shops. Shopping malls are better due to following reasons.

Firstly, time management, as everything is available under one roof, you do not have to go from
one place to other for buying different things, it saves your time and fuel also. Time management
is the biggest issue for every person in the busy world. Secondly, you can spend the whole day in
a mall. After shopping, you can watch a movie or eat at a good restaurant. At weekend it is best
option to go for outing, you can go with your friends, family everyone. Children can play games
there, so there is an option for everyone. For e.g. at the weekend if you have to buy grocery or
other things and also want to take out for your family for outing it is the best option.
Thirdly, you will get everything original in malls. There is no chance of duplicate product and
everything is available at the fixed price, bargaining has no place in malls. You can get discount
on items also for e.g. In Metro, Walmart etc you mostly get the discount on items or there are
other offers also like buy 2 get 1 etc. You get discount on clothes, shoes and accessories also,
there are mid-season sale and other sales.

Shopping malls have also generated employment opportunities. If you want to start a business or
any food outlet, malls are the best place for you to start, as many people visit malls every day, it
will be good for the startup. You can easily cover their expenditure and earn the profit.

To sum up, there are many benefits of shopping malls. It saves your time, money and also create
employment. Therefore I believe that shopping malls are better than small shops.

The government should create a better network of public transport

available for everyone or build more roads owning population.

It is increasingly acknowledged that the traffic problem is one of the biggest issues that the
government is facing nowadays. While some people believe that building more roads will be the
solution, others advocate public transport is what the government should promote. As far as I am
concerned, creating a better network of public transport will be more beneficial in respect of this
issue.

People who emphasize the importance of more freeways in cities are primarily focusing on
decreasing the congestion in urban areas. Nevertheless, this argument cannot hold water. This is
because most people work in a suburb close to where they live. Hence, congestion is a problem
in downtowns instead of rural areas where freeways may play a role.

It is evidently reasonable for me to believe that public transport has more benefits. Firstly, it
reduces pollution and road congestion. The more people who travel by train, tram or bus, the
fewer cars we will have on the road. In addition, it also requires less land use than road
infrastructure. Moreover, commuting by public transport also helps foster a sense of community.
For instance, people traveling together are more likely to feel a community connection than those
traveling in cars in isolation. This is to say, public transport provides accessible transport for
people regardless of demographics such as income or age.

In a nutshell, while this controversial topic never fails to attract the public attention, we can
safely reach the conclusion that there is a need for governments to put money in developing
public transport networks instead of building more roads.
Government needs to invest more in health care sector

The health care sector has benefited from the exemption of service tax, and I hope service tax
would not be imposed this year also. The government needs to consider that health care services
are already expensive for the common man and further taxes would only make them
inaccessible.

The government also needs to invest more in the health care sector. Creating more medical
colleges is a necessity today. With a population of 1.2 billion, our country needs more doctors
and specialists to accommodate growing health care needs.

All heavy investment and long-gestation industries should get industry status so that we can get
long-term loans at special rates.

Hospitals and clinics depend on machinery to a large extent. The government should lower the
tax on import of equipment essential for treatment of patients.

India needs international standards of medical facilities to offer quality health care services, and
taxes should not become a barrier to achieving this.

Ultimately, it will benefit patients-they won't have to pay a higher price for the services and will
also get the best available treatment.

The Budget should focus on inclusive growth and this should be reflected in defining the Budget
spends across key sectors, including health care and infrastructure.

Many reforms that have been talked about in the past, including those for the insurance sector,
need to be brought in at the earliest to spur economic growth.
To my mind, the main issue is not whether the government needs to raise more revenue but that
it needs to work towards bringing in higher efficiency in the current spend and boost the
economy for inclusive growth.

At Eye-Q, one of the pioneers in taking the best of technology and medical skills to the
hinterland of India, we have seen that higher efficiency from the same revenue is the key to
success.

While a positive Budget will have a role to play in building positive sentiment, it is imperative
for the government to look at building positive sentiment through growth-oriented policies on a
regular basis.
