David Lando (to All - Entire Audience): 10:13 PM: how you manage things, IaaS as opposed to on

Matthew White (to All - Entire Audience): 10:13 PM: shift from CapEx to OpEx
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 10:16 PM: AWS has higher level security than on-
prem
Richard Chow (to All - Entire Audience): 10:16 PM: If its good for the CIA, its good enough for you
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 10:18 PM: You get it with AWS services
automatically
Mark Tan (to All - Entire Audience): 10:18 PM: Availbility Zone
David Lando (to All - Entire Audience): 10:18 PM: architect it accordingly using the appropriate
services
Veeramani G (to All - Entire Audience): 10:18 PM: less cost and more high availablity
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 10:22 PM: Cloudwatch
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 10:22 PM: Using management tools
Brenda Tinius (to All - Entire Audience): 10:25 PM: depends
Veeramani G (to All - Entire Audience): 10:25 PM: less
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 10:25 PM: With right architecture costs less
Prakash Mani (to All - Entire Audience): 10:25 PM: less if it is managed by a Service Provider
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 10:26 PM: Per the keynote guest at the AWS Summit at Anaheim
a couple of weeks ago, even simply doing a lift and shift resulted in a 30% savings, and they weren't
expecting that.
Brenda Tinius (to All - Entire Audience): 10:27 PM: Would be interesting to know how much savings
GE's All-In strategy got them
Brenda Tinius (to All - Entire Audience): 10:28 PM: ...as of last quater
Partner Team (to All - Entire Audience): 10:33 PM: Lunch break! We'll resume at 13:15 PT.
Hector Alvarez (to All - Entire Audience): 10:33 PM: my question is could you use route 53 DNS and a
load balancer to provide hybrid failover. like if on premise exchange becomes unavailable it could failover
the IP to an Amazon EC2 instance brought up from a backup or something of that sort
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 10:47 PM: @Hector Route 53 can use health checks to automate
failovers. email servers are one example. Here's more:
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/dns-failover-how-to.html
Hector Alvarez (to All - Entire Audience): 10:54 PM: @warren awesome - appreciate the linke
Partner Team (to All - Entire Audience): 11:18 PM: And we're back!
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 11:32 PM: not seeing your presentation
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 11:32 PM: Dont see your screen
Ronaldo Annes (to All - Entire Audience): 11:33 PM: lost video
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 11:33 PM: yup
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 12:02 AM: looks good
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:11 AM: Even as a first pass at architecture, I feel like this was
still a little too simplistic as a lift and shift.
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:12 AM: With a six month time frame, I would have included
ECS at least, since they specifically talked about that as a desire.
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:21 AM: Getting the governance right (IAM policy, VPC and
security group standards, etc) is important, before deploying anything that is application specific.
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 12:26 AM: thanks!
Partner Team (to All - Entire Audience): 12:35 AM: And we're back!
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:44 AM: One of their primary issues is their development
release process, which isn't really addressed by the production platform lift and shift. So I'd also
recommend re-architecting their CI/CD chain to include CodeCommit/CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:51 AM: They did mention financial data, which may imply PCI
regulation.
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:51 AM: At a minimum, encryption in flight and at rest.
Ely Conn (to All - Entire Audience): 12:53 AM: redis
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 12:56 AM: Some of that depends on if they use Oracle BYOL, and
if they still have six months left on the license they already pay for.
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 1:03 AM: if you're presenting something... all we see is "Case
Study Defailed Debrief" since the break
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 1:03 AM: I dont see the presentation
Matthew White (to All - Entire Audience): 1:04 AM: I'm not seeing anything except the "Case Study
Debrief " slide
Matthew White (to All - Entire Audience): 1:04 AM: its been up for the past 15 minutes
Matthew White (to All - Entire Audience): 1:04 AM: Which may be why everyone is leaving
Matthew White (to All - Entire Audience): 1:04 AM: better
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 1:04 AM: more better
Jammes Valencia (to All - Entire Audience): 1:04 AM: yes
Jammes Valencia (to All - Entire Audience): 1:05 AM: we thought the one slide was auto scaling its
purpose
Warren Gill (to All - Entire Audience): 1:05 AM: made sense
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 1:06 AM: 1
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 1:17 AM: In this instance we don't need any VPC
setup since its serverless architecture?
Lokesh Krishnamoorthy (to All - Entire Audience): 1:20 AM: Can everyone mute your phones if your
not speaking
sachin patkar (to All - Entire Audience): 1:20 AM: Please mute
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 1:20 AM: It's Arvind...

praveen bomidala (to All - Entire Audience): 1:38 AM: Thanks much
Ronaldo Annes (to All - Entire Audience): 1:38 AM: Bye
Allan Webb (to All - Entire Audience): 1:38 AM: Thanks!
