Do-Now/Mini-lesson/Warm-up
ReadTheory (Minimum three quizzes)
Learning Activities or Instructional Strategies
Class will begin with a Do Now of the online source, "ReadTheory," which students will log onto via their chromebooks and complete a minimum of three quizzes. As students read
the short passages personalized for them, they will answer assessment questions that correlate to the text. If students complete their minimum three quizzes earlier than the
majority of the class, they will be asked to keep reading to constantly boost their grade level for reading and their lexile level. Students may check their current progress through
ReadTheory at any time. Once every student has completed a minimum of three reading quizzes, the class will discuss their opinions on the film so far, and if it helps them to
visualize a drama. Students will then continue watching the film, "The Crucible," by Nicholas Hytner, while completing the movie viewing guide. Students will notice the differences
from the text to the screen, and will note their observations on their movie viewing guides, which will be turned in on Google Classroom for a summative minor assessment.
