Do-Now/Mini-lesson/Warm-up
Khan Academy SAT Practice (20 questions / Two quizzes)
Learning Activities or Instructional Strategies
Students will begin class with a Do Now on their chromebooks for Khan Academy SAT practice. Students will practice close-reading skills to enhance their SAT test-taking
strategies. Once students complete a minimum of 20 questions or two quizzes, they will be asked to discuss their thoughts on the reading of Arthur Miller's, "The Crucible," so far.
Students may refer to their guided notes to make observations, predictions, or remarks. Once the student-led discussion draws to a close, students will watch the movie version of
"The Crucible," to visualize the drama as it plays out on screen. While the movie plays, students will complete the viewing guides posted on Google Classroom to note differences
from the text, which will be turned in via Google Classroom once students finish viewing the movie, and graded as a minor. Students will be asked to pause the movie themselves if
they would like to comment, question, argue, or discuss something with their classmates in regards to the film. This discussion will be monitored by the instructor and facilitated so
that the movie can play for the majority of the block.
