4. First-aid measures

Eye contact - rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids
forcibly

Skin contact - remove immediately contaminated clothes, wash affected skin with
water and soap - do not use any solvents

Inhalation - remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm

Note to physician - treat symptomatically

5. Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media - water spray jet, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide, adapt
extinguishing media to surrounding fire conditions

Unsuitable extinguishing media - full water jet

Specific hazards - formation of toxic and corrosive combustion gases (ammonia

(NH3), nitrogen oxides (NOx)) possible

Protection of fire-fighters - chemical incident emergency response unit with full protective
equipment

Special method of fire-fighting - cool endangered containers with water spray

6. Accidental release measures

Personal precautions - keep people away and stay on the upwind side

Environmental protection - do not allow to enter drains or waterways

Methods for cleaning up - take up mechanically and dispose of

7. Handling and storage

Handling

Technical measures - processing in closed systems, superposed by inert gas (e.g.

nitrogen)
- local exhaust ventilation necessary
- take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging
- avoid dust formation; very high dust explosion hazard

Suitable materials - plastic

Unsuitable materials - steel, stainless steel

Storage

Storage conditions - below 40 °C

- dry, cool and ventilated place

Packaging materials - tightly closing; material: coated steel (lined with polyethylene bag)

Note - when plastics are used, possible electrostatic charges must be

considered

8. Exposure controls/Personal protection

Engineering Measures - see 7.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection - in case of open handling or accidental release:

particle mask or respirator with independent air supply

Hand protection - protective gloves

Eye protection - safety glasses

9. Physical and chemical properties

soluble, ethanol (20 °C)
soluble, dichloromethane (20 °C)

pH value (20 °C) 6.0 to 7.5 (10 g/l)

Melting temperature 58 to 61 °C

10. Stability and reactivity

Stability - stable under the conditions mentioned in chapter 7

Conditions to avoid - temperatures above 140 °C

- humidity
- air

Materials to avoid - iron (III) salts

- risk of a thermal runaway reaction

Hazardous decomposition - ammonia

products - nitrous oxides

Note - contamination with traces of iron (III) salts causes a noticeable

lowering of the decomposition temperature
