ABSTRACT

Washing of clothes is a necessary activity for it is important to wear clean clothes. It is one of the

basic chores in a household that needs to be done at least once a week. One of the processes of

doing laundry is the drying of clothes; it could be outdoor or indoor drying. Clothes exposed on

direct sunlight have more benefits compared to tumbled dry clothes. There are several factors

that affect outdoor drying but the main problem is the unpredictable weather changes.

A motorized clothesline is an effective mechanism that lessens the effort in moving the hanged

clothes to its desired location depending on the current weather condition. It needs to operate at a

desired speed and direction where clothes will move in moderate motion.

The motor-powered clothesline gives an opportunity in energy conservation by consuming less

electricity and time usage compared to using a dryer. A lesser energy consumption means lesser

energy cost. Clothes dryer power rating will far outweigh to the power rating of a washing

machine motor, which is used for the motor powered clothesline. The average percentage of the

energy rate of the dryer motor is 75% higher of the power rating of the wash motor. Thus,

promoting an energy conservation opportunity.
