III. Learning Procedure

Teachers Activity Students Activity

a. Preliminary Activities

 Prayer

Class, everybody stand let us pray.

Our father….. Amen. Our father……. Amen.

 Checking of attendance

Who is absent in this first group?

None Ma’am!

Who is absent in this second

group? None Ma’am

How about the third group, who is

absent? None Ma’am

Very good!

 Collecting of Assignment

Do we have an assignment?
Yes, Ma’am
Pass it to the front without
standing. (passing their assignment)

1. Drill

Class, get one whole sheet of

paper.

Do you have already a paper?

Yes, ma’am

Now, what is the shape of the

paper? The shape of the paper is rectangle

Very good!

2. Review

I have here a puzzle on the board,

but before you answer you are
going to read first the following for
you to be guided in answering the
puzzle. Understand?
Yes, ma’am

I will call some pupil to answer the

puzzle.

(call a pupil)

1. A figure that has a similar sides.

2. It is a close plane figure that has
no sides.
3. A figure that has three sides.
4. A figure that has four sides.

1. Rectangle
2. Circle
3. Triangle
4. Square

Very good!
b. Preparatory Activity

1. Motivation

I have here a poem on the board, I

will group the class into three and
every group will recite the poem.
This group will be the group 1, next
is the group 2, and followed by the
group three. Understand?
Yes, ma’am

Okay group 1 everybody read!

(Reading the poem)

Points and lines

Points and lines
That’s shows it starts
That’s how it starts
Making all the figures
Making all the figures
Using points and lines
Points and lines

Very good!

What does it tells?

Ma’am it tells that all lines are made up of
many points.

Very good!

Where do figures come from as

described in the poem?
The figures come from lines, and lines
are made up of points.

Very good! Brilliant!

Today, you are going to study

about points and lines.
2. Discussion

Class, I have her a drawing. David

and Vince are playing darts. Look
at where their darts landed.

What did David and Vince name

the space/place where their darts
landed? They name it using letters.

Very good!

How will you describe the figure

where the darts landed?
It is circle, a plane figure which has no
corner.

Very good!

How many points are marked?

There are two points are marked.

If you play darts, what would you

like to name your points? If I play darts, I would like to use letters to
name my points.

How are points named?

Points are name with letters.

A dot represents a point. It can be

named with letters. Look at the
picture.
What have you noticed from point
R. to Point T
(Varied Answers)

What can you see at both ends?

It has two arrow heads, in both endpoints.

What do you call this figure?

Line

This figure with two arrow heads is

called a line. It can extend
indefinitely in both directions.

Examples: Take a part of line RT,

(divide the line into two)

What do we call this figure? Ma’am this figure is called a ray.

Very good!

How will you describe the figure?

This figure has one end point and an

arrow head which extend indefinitely to
one direction.

Very good!

How many rays are there in line

RT?

Loot at the picture

Look at the part of the line from
point B to C.

What can you say about this part? It has two end points.

Can you call this part as ray?

Why? No, because it has two end points it can
never extends indefinitely to any
direction. A ray has only one end points
and arrow head which extends to one
direction.

Brilliant

This figure is called a line

segment. It has two end points. It
can never extends indefinitely to
any direction.

Is it clear, class?
Yes, ma’am!

Okay, let us have an exercise. Get

your notebook and answer the
following.

1. Name each rays in this figure.

1. GH, GI, GJ

2. Name each line segments.

2. RE, EY, MY, RM
3. Name the line and each points.
3. NO, PQ

3. Guided Practice

This time we will have a group

activity. I will group you into three
groups. Group 1, group 2, and
group 3. The group have different
activities, the group 1, will answer
the following questions, write your
answers on the blank provided.
Group 2, you are going to name
the points and line segments, and
group 3, will name the line and the
rays.

After the activity you are going to

post your outputs on the board and
report it.

Is that clear class?

Yes, ma’am!

Very good!

But before we start let us first

enumerate the rules in having a
group activity.

What are they?

 Participate actively
 Work silently
 Observed cleanliness and
orderliness of the classroom

Excellent!

I will give you 10 minutes to do the

activity. You can start now!
Group 1.

Direction: Answer the following

questions. Write your answers on
the blank provided.

1. ________ has two arrow heads. 1. line

2. A geometric figure that has one
end point and arrow head that is
called _________. 2. Ray
3. ________ has two endpoints. 3. Line segment
4. ________ it can be named with
letters. 4. Point

Group 2

Direction: Draw the figure and

name the points and the line
segment.

1. Points M, N, O and P.
2. MN, MO, MP, NO, NP, OP

Group 3
Direction: Draw the figure and
name the line and rays.

1. MP
2. MP, NP, OP, PM, OM, NM

c. Generalization

Class, what do we call this figures?

a. Point
b. Line
c. Line Segment
d. Ray

How do you describe these

figures?

extend indefinitely in both
directions.
 A line segment has two end points,
it can never extend indefinitely to
any direction.
 A ray has one end and an arrow
head which extends indefinitely to
one direction.
 A ray has one endpoint and an
arrow head which extends
indefinitely to one direction.

Excellent!
