electrical engineering. She loves Pitt NSBE because it allows

C H A P T E R U P D A T E S
NEW LEADERSHIP: DARWIN MLACHILA & LONDON LEE
Last month, our previous president, Janet, stepped down from her position. Because Pitt NSBE follows
Robert's Rules of Order, VP Darwin Mlachila became our new president. An election was held at a Town Hall
meeting, and general body members elected senior, London Lee to become our new vice president! London is
a mechanical engineering student who has been a member of NSBE since she was a freshman and is hoping to
make the organization just as exciting for incoming freshmen as it was for her. She has also been the region's
End Zone Coordinator, so she is a great person to talk to if you're interested in NSBE leadership!

FRESHMAN REPRESENTATIVE APPLICATIONS OPEN UNTIL 10/1

Pitt NSBE is in search of three wonderful freshmen to serve as our Freshman Shadowing Initiatives
Chairpersons! This is a rotational position that will allow freshmen looking to become involved in NSBE
leadership gain experience and find their strengths on the board. Apply at bit.ly/fsiapp

STEM FEST
at Robinson Mall
October 5, 10AM-6PM
Transportation provided.
STEM Fest is an educational event hosted by KDKA-TV and Williams for children of all ages. Volunteers will
be tabling at the event and will also receive a free Pitt Engineering t-shirt!

STEM SPOOKTACULAR
at Carnegie Library - East Liberty
October 26, 2PM-4:30PM
Transportation not provided.
STEM Spooktacular Day is a local event organized by S.Y.STEM Coalition, a nonprofit organization. The
event is designed to motivate students' interest in science through interactive learning experiences.
Volunteers will be performing a demonstration.

FAME TUTORING
in East Liberty
Tuesdays & Thursdays 5-7 PM
Transportation not provided.
F.A.M.E. prepares local public school students for the SSAT, a private school entrance exam and also provides
weekend robotics activities for middle and high schoolers. Volunteers will tutor kids and assist with homework.

JOSH GISBON FOUNDATION

at Pittsburgh Classical Academy
Mondays & Wednesdays, 4-5 PM
Transportation not provided.
Josh Gibson, coined "the Black Babe Ruth," left behind a legacy that his family chose to honor through this
non-profit foundation that provides academic and athletic programs to youth. Volunteers will mentor and
tutor 6th-8th grade boys from Pittsburgh Public Schools.
