LETS MAKE A HISTORY FOR THE FUTURE

Did you know what already happened with Indonesia and japan along time ago has
made a history that make this two country relation build till now??? History recorded that
Actually Indonesian and Japanese relations were tracked a long before independence
Indonesia August 1945. Since the end of the 19th century Indonesia has been with Japan
already started a relationship, but in this relationship the Japanese are more active role
compared to Indonesians who are just as passive actor. In the vulnerable time for more than
a century, the main motive of cooperation between the two countries is economic.

Indonesia and Japanese relations in the 1930s seemed to be intensified especially in

economic and industrial relations. Then Japanese big businessmen who have successfully
invested in Indonesia like Mitsui, Mitsubishi, and Sumitomo. The big businessmen are
expanding business by setting up branches in Indonesia. At this time a variety of small and
large japanese entrepreneurs developing rapidly in various regions in Indonesia From there,
Japanese modernization began and on its development has a big influence on Indonesia
today.

relations made by Japan with Indonesia in the period before Indonesia's independence
is started from relations between trade, and then Japan saw that Indonesia had very rich
natural resources abundant which then makes Japan ambitious to master it with the support
of circumstances which at that time were moderate the continuation of the Second World
War which badly needed material for war.

supports free trade. This makes Japan invested heavily and did not hesitate to provide
various kinds of assistance to Indonesia.

Indonesia-Japan relations are getting better into the decade 1980s. Issues of
investment, trade, technology transfer, and financial assistance to Indonesia are some
examples of popular issues in this decade (Bandoro, 1994). Economic issues are still a
major issue, even though it is an issue security is also starting to become a common
concern. Japan is an investor most foreigners in this decade. Recorded 24.8% of existing
foreign investment in Indonesia is a Japanese investment (Schwarz and Vasikiotis, 1991 in
Bahri, 2004). Funding assistance for development activities provided by Japan during this
has placed it as the largest contributor to Indonesia. One form of assistance is Official
Development Assistance (ODA). In addition to ODA, Japan also offers proposals for the
formation of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) This resulted in a follow-up to the Indonesia
Japan economic cooperation Partnership Agreement (IJEPA). This IJEPA collaboration is
apparently very supported by Japan's cooperation .In addition, market liberalization in
Indonesia making Japanese products easier to enter Indonesia. new era that strengthens
bilateral relations the two countries. in the agreement on mobilization arrangements
workforce of the two countries, cooperation in the field of technology. Peel about
Technology transfer from Japan to Indonesia is associated with culture, tradition and social
values shared by both countries.

2008 is the year of Indonesia-Japan relations. This matter because 2008 was a 50-
year change in relations between Indonesia and Japan. The 50th anniversary began with
the visit of President SBY and Mother Ani Yudhoyono went to Japan in November 2007.
On that occasion, the President SBY and Prime Minister Abe Shinzo delivered with RI
Japan, namely Strategic Partnership Towards a Peaceful Future and Prosperous (Japanese
Embassy in Indonesia, 2007). In the agreement, representing it in 2008 was a good
opportunity for strengthen Indonesian-Japanese relations that have been running for 50
years. This statement also discusses how the relationship take place in the next 50
years means “future” what will happen to the future of the relation of indonesia and
japan? Now this is your time, our time as a teenagers of this country to make a history,
to make a change for the furture, we must expanding exchanges between the people of
the two countries and deepening understanding between generations to held more various
activities in fields such as: education, culture and economics.

Indonesia as Japan's strategic partner in support various aspects of its economy as

well as Japan can also be role models for Indonesia, related to its role in various fields.
Indonesia is a destination investment and sourcing of raw materials for Japanese industry.
(www.bppt.go.id) When reflecting on relationships diplomatically both of them to date,
relations that have existed for five these decades are complex. now our role to take action
in these two country, what should we do?? We must make it more complex for cooperation
in increasing Indonesia's capacity, so that they are more able to compete include: Capacity
building, especially in the area product standardization and hygiene testing and health
standards for food and beverage products, skills and technology training in the sector
manufacturing that will improve the quality of Indonesian products in the domestic market
and international and capacity building programs in the energy sector, industry, agriculture,
export promotion and investment.

What relation between indonesia and japan that happening now is beacause history
along time ago that I already mention in above, and what will happened in the future is our
responsibility as teenagers to make a better relationship and spread positive impact now
lets make a history for a better future.
