THE EXPERT MENU OF THE REMOTE CONTROL

TYPE HS
for fault indicators of the FLA3.1 PRODUCT LINE

General description
The optional expert menu of the remote control type HS contains functions of the fault indicators of the
FLA3.1 product line that technically skilled users may want to change. All functions should be changed
carefully as this influences the performance of the indicator and the battery lifetime.

Commands
EF VOLTCHECK: Earth-fault voltage check
The interval tc for the voltage check after the detection of a possible fault by the
di/dt algorithm is factory-set to 1 sec. (Please refer to figure 1.) With this function this
interval can be changed.

Selectable values: 1sec to 250sec

This function is available for fault indicators type FLA3.1V and type FLA3.1VL with
firmware version 113 or higher.

SHORT TRANSM: Short transmissions

This function changes the way remote indications are performed. Usually a remote
indication follows a procedure after detecting a fault, performing a reset or detecting
a voltage/current on/off event. This procedure takes approx. 0:50min to 1:10min.

When the short transmission function is enabled fault indications will be transmitted
via short transmissions similar to the transmissions used for datalogging. (Please
see the instruction manual for more details.)
Using short transmissions reduces battery power consumption of the indicators and
saves time for the remote indication procedure. The RTU will receive fault indicati-
ons within approx. 10-30sek.

INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Precondition for the usage of this function is a RIS-FS module in permanent re-
ceiving mode which implements EMG Modbus protocol Rev. 9 or later. Due to the
increased power consumption for permanent receiving mode of the RIS-FS, integra-
tion into a non-rechargable battery-powered RTU is not recommended.

Selectable values:
OFF: Standard procedure enabled. Works with all RIS interfaces.
ON: Short transmissions enabled. Works only with RIS-FS interface.

This function is available for fault indicators of the FLA3.1 product family with firm-
ware version 113 or higher.

LENGTH TRANS: Duration of transient detection

With the FLA3.1 product line firmware version 109 or higher the transient detection
is disabled automatically after 7 days. With this function the period of 7 days can be
changed.

Selectable values: 1 day to 250 days

This function is available for fault indicators of the FLA3.1 product family with firm-
ware version 109 or higher.

LEN VOLTCHG: Length of the check for voltage status changes

When the remote indication of voltage status changes is enabled, the fault indica-
tors of the FLA3.1 product line will perform regular checks for voltage status chan-
ges. Once an indicator detects a voltage status change it will initiate the remote
indication of this event.
With firmware version 115 or later the indicator an additional criterion for a voltage
change was introduced. The indicators now check if the voltage status change per-
sists over a preadjusted period of time. (Please see interval ts in figure 2.)
E.g. a voltage loss needs to be detected continuously for 20 seconds to be consi-
dered as voltage loss.
With this menu item the length of this detection interval can be changed.

Selectable values: 0 sec to 250 sec in steps of 5 sec

(0 seconds means that a voltage status change is immediately indicated.)
