Impact of Cellphones on the Academic Performance of High School Students in

SBNCHS

II. Statement of the Problem:

The study will be conducted to determine the impact of cellphones on the academic
performance of high school students in SBNCHS.
More specifically it sought to:
1. Determine the effect of the length of time on using cellphones on the academic
performance of high school students in SBNCHS,
2. Determine the effect of the frequency of using cellphones on the academic
performance high school students in SBNCHS,
3. Determine the effect of using cellphones on the general average of high school
students in SBNCHS.

It is therefore hypothesized that there is no significant effect on using of cellphones

and the academic performance of high school students in SBNCHS.

It is therefore hypothesized that there is a significant effect on using of cellphones and

the academic performance of high school students in SBNCHS.

III. Significance of the Study:

The study would be beneficial to:
 Teachers
- to give them idea about the impact of cellphones on students’ academic
performance
 Department of Education (DepEd)
- to give them idea if cellphones can affect the academic performance of
high school students
 Parents
- to let them know about the impact of cellphones on their children.
 Researchers
- serve as their future reference related to their study.
 Students
- to gain knowledge about the impact of using cellphones on their academic
performance.

IV. Definition of Terms:

1. Cellphones
- Small wireless device that has at least the same functions of a standard wired
telephone but is smaller and more mobile.
2. Academics
- It is the courses or subjects of learning.
3. Performance
- The accomplishment of a given task measured against preset known standards of
accuracy, completeness, cost, and speed.
4. Grades
- A position in a scale of ranks or qualities.
5. High School Students
- An academic institution providing education more advanced than elementary school
or middle school but less advanced than college.
V. Scopes and Limitations:

The study “The Impact of Cellphones on the Academic Performance of High School
Students in SBNCHS” will be conducted to determine if there is a significant effect on using of
cellphones on the academic performance of high school students in SBNCHS.
This study is only limited to determine the effect of the length of time on using
cellphones on the academic performance of students, determine the effect of the frequency of
using cellphones on the academic performance of students and determine the effect of using
cellphones on the general average of students. The respondents of the study will only be the
high school students in Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School.
The conduct of the study will be held at Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High
School, Science Technology and Engineering Building.
