D. Project Rationale/Background

Most Filipinos don’t just like movies; we love them. People go to movie

houses as families, as a barkada (peer group) or as dating couples. Spending for the

movie and the snacks, or even lunch or dinner, is part of the courtship process.– Michael

Tan

iv
Knowing that Filipinos loves movies and goes to theaters hand by hand and as

an aftermath of this the proponents had an idea of creating a business related to what

the Filipinos love. The Proposed business is a movie themed resto-museum which aims

to bring the movie experience of all the movie lovers into reality. The business name will

be “Resto de Galleria” in this manner it will be easy to remember and be recalled by

people.

The proposed business “Resto de Galleria” will highlight an international favorite

movie of all time specifically Harry potter, Game of Thrones, Lord of the rings, Star wars

and Marvel. The key objective of this business is to impart a realistic and extraordinary

experience to all ages of the nation. It will offer variety of food such as snacks,

beverages, and heavy meal in a reasonable amount yet delectable dishes. Moreover,

the focal point of the business is to work on the customer satisfaction while producing a

good quality of food and services. The business will humbly support its environment by

using less harmful materials for the safeness of its nearby community. Likewise, age of

innovation is what other people named our today’s generation. The needs of the people

gave the business an opportunity to show their capability of providing high standard of

work and great satisfaction. The atypical promotion will help the business to have a

prominent impact to every customer. The business will make sure that the crews and

other employees that are working for the business is well-oriented and knowledgeable

on what they are doing, this is to serve the most memorable experience that a customer

will ever encounter.

E. Competitive Situation

Resto de Galleria will be the first movie-themed restaurant museum in Metro

Manila therefore it has the potential to escalate more over the years. The main aspects

v
driving this growth would be the expanding tourism spending, increasing urban

population, growing middle class population, rising GDP worldwide and continuous

technological up-gradation in amusements or museums.

Resto de Galleria will have competitors in restaurant businesses or museums.

Resto de Galleria will be merging with other institution which is an advantage. It would

benefit both the institution and school; this can actually be a clever way to gain

exposure. By making positive connections with others in field, the business can have a

chance to assess the differences between itself and its competitors.

Moreover, the Resto de Galleria will offer various promotions through the use of

social media sites, discounts, food bundles, good public and customer relations, free

delivery, coupon give away, holiday promotions, fliers and etc. Additionally, pricing for

entrance and good quality foods are minimal since the business will just be starting and

it will be an advantage compared to other competitors. These advantages would benefit

Resto de Galleria to gather further customers and be profitable at the same time.

F. Project Cost Benefit Analysis

The total cost for the pre-operating period of the business is Php 8,490,782. This

will cater all the needs of the business such as the restaurant and the museum. The cost

for the restaurant will be catered by all the profits made by the business from selling its

food offers. The food has been greatly offered assuring that the expenses made will be

acquired by the profit the food gets. On the other hand, the museum will be gathering all

the expenses catered by the entrance fee. The museum will be able to earn without

creating more expenses for everything placed on the museum will be used for a very

long time. Also, the artifacts will be able to increase its price as the time passes by

meaning it does not depreciate. Also, the expenses on the building will slowly be

gathered through the use of the Resto de Galleria as a venue or use of the function hall.

vi
Cost Cost Benefit
Artifacts and 1,000,000 This will bring an estimated Php
Restoration 1,096,415 in the business
Advertising and 150,000 The advertising will make the
Promotion business more well-known.
Therefore, a little amount of
expense for this will be good
Rent Cost 180,000 The price of the rent is really
cheap but the location is really
great for business operation.
Therefore, it is really an
advantage
Supplies 2,000,000 The expected sales for the food
offers will be Php 4,607,105
Equipment 32,282 The equipments will be used for
the long term operation of the
business and will surely be able to
return the expenses from it
purchase
Building 3,000,000 The building will be another long
term asset that the business has.
All transactions will be made in
the area.
Furniture and Fixtures 128,500 Another long term asset that will
be needed in the business.
Infringement Cost 2,000,000 This will lead to the right of the

Organizational Aspect

Management during pre-operating period

promotion of the business will take place. Different kinds of advertisements will be use to

promote the business such as prints on flyers, tarpaulins, or banners and many more.

Those print advertisements will be disseminated 1-3 months before the opening of the

business (the cost for these advertisements can be seen on the financial aspect). On the

other hand, the management will make social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and

Instagram since social media nowadays was an effective way to communicate people

and at least two (2) persons among the owners will manage those accounts. In those

social media accounts, everything about Resto de Galleria will be posted.

The management shall hire an engineer who will layout and design the structure

of the building of the business. Also, a construction firm shall be hired and they should

provide and chose their own people to build the establishment of Resto de Galleria.

corporation. The creditors can only run after the assets of the corporation

and not on the personal assets of the shareholders in the settlement of

the corporation’s debts or liabilities.

2. Corporation exists with continuity because the power of succession gives

this type of organization continuous existence. This means that although

1
the shareholders terminate the contract with the business, the firm will still

continue its operation because shareholders can be changed unless all

the shareholders decide to dissolve it or merge with another business.

3. The shares of stocks or interest are freely transferrable except when

shareholders have “buy-sell” agreements or securities laws and

regulations restricting when and to whom share may be sold or

transferred.

4. Corporations attract investors and having more investors will increase the

capital of the business to manage and expand their operations.

5. Owners or the shareholders can be an employee of their own corporation.

They can receive salaries or compensation income aside from the

dividends they may receive from the corporation.

The proposed business will be established as General Corporation. Wherein, the

corporation may have an unlimited number of shareholders.

for the foods and the entrance for the museum are not yet included. They can also visit

the museum just pay for the individuals’ entrance fee and the cost for the food will

depend on what and how many orders and depend on the number of attendees.

Moreover, if the couple do not want to rent the whole place then the multipurpose hall

will be their only reception area and there will be a regular operation of the business.

The business will be open any day for the reservations as long as the date or time of the

event will not be the same as the first reservation done.

Educational Tour

The team will go to various elementary and high schools to promote the

business. The Resto de Galleria can be one of the places where schools go during their

field trips. The museum would offer a new knowledge for the students about the best

movies made. The establishment can accommodate up to 300 individuals inside.

17
However, the number of individual allowed to enter the museum at the same time will be

limited to only 150 per batch. In that way the business can secure that the artefacts will

be preserved and the management can easily monitor the actions of the people inside

the museum. There will be a minimum of 200 students to participate in the field trip if the

school wanted the business to be private for the said field trip. The school will benefit

from this because they will be given 30% discount for the tour.

Catering Service

This was another service that the business would offer. In case that the event

has a specified venue already, the business would be willing to on the place and serve

our food. The catering service price of the business will be depending on the types of

food to be served. Also, the catering service will only be limited across Bulacan and

Quezon City to ensure the quality of the food offered.

Christening

This is one of the events that can be celebrated in the Resto de Galleria. The

business has a function hall that can be organized as the clients admire to serve as the

place for the dining and parties; the cost of the function hall is 20,000 pesos for a half

day event. The business will also be providing the food considering that the business will

only accept events that will avail the entire service of the business. The food to be

offered from the menu will be decided by the clients therefore the amount for the food

will depend on the request of the client.

Birthday Celebration

can be designed as to what theme the debutant or the birthday celebrant wants

especially when it is related to movies or movie inspired. The business as mentioned will

18
be offering its services to the clients such as the food which is based on the prefer ability

of the client and a 10% discount will be given to all the people who attended the birthday

celebration and want to enter the museum. Hence, the client can also book the entire

museum for 50,000 as preferred. Again, the business will accept reservations if the date

was not booked by other clients already.

Photoshoot Venue

The artifacts that the business have can be a perfect place to be a photography

location. If the main course of their photoshoot is about Harry potter, Game of Thrones,

Lord of the Rings, Star wars and Marvel it can be a meaningful place to them. The

business guarantee a place where no one will be distract during the photoshoot and the

business offer an hour for the client to do their photoshoot in an affordable price. It can

be a perfect place since it is accessible and timely in a way that this is the first ever

restaurant museum that will offer such service.

Note: The costs of all these promotions and additional services can be

found in financial aspect.

Price Strategies

Methods to be used for the Movie Themed Resto-Museum will be divided into

two. For the Restaurant we will be using cost based pricing particularly the cost-plus

pricing. This will be the best way to earn the cost of the product and also it will be an

advantage if the cost of the raw materials, depreciate. The museum on the other hand

will be using target return pricing; in this manner all the expenses made for the museum

will be reached in the specified time the business was counting.

The proposed business will be using bundle pricing and pricing for market

penetration since that the business will just be starting it should be able to compete with

the prices of its competitors and if possible be able to lower the price yet provide good

19
quality food and place in this manner the business will be competitive enough and will be

able to gather more customer.

Competitors’ Background

Tough Competition is one of the threats in ones business. The more the

competitors the business has the more the possibility of rivalry over sales. Knowing your

competitors and their offered products and/or services can help the management

enhance their own products and improve their services and even revised their marketing

strategies to attract more customers. This knowledge would help the management

create marketing strategies that will take advantage on the competitors’ weaknesses and

improve their own business performance.

Since the proposed business is a movie-themed resto museum their competitors

are more on businesses that offered foods like restaurants and even fast food chains.

Also, the institutions that care for a collection of cultural or historical importance and

other artistic objects are also one of the competitors of this proposed business.

However, those competitors are considered as indirect since the products and services

that the proposed business offered is different from the others. Only same with satisfying

the customer needs. The management only considered competitors that are movie

themed. These are the competitors of the proposed business:

1. The Nook Café is a small quaint café along Maginhawa Street that aims to be

everyone’s little corners. This café was a Harry Potter inspired and was open every

Tuesday up to Sunday but close every Monday. Nook Café offers variety of foods and

drinks. Bacon Wrapped Chicken, Ron Weasley’s Chicken Platter, Luna’s Hearty Green

Salad, Pesto, Butter beer Cupcake, Choco Cauldron Cake was some of the foods that

24
was being offered by the café. They also sell coffee based drinks like espresso, café

Americano, café latte and many more. Moreover, non-coffee drinks and Cold Drinks was

also been served. The names of the foods they have been offering were very eye-

catching. The prices of the products the café has been offering are ranging from P100

pesos to 250 pesos per serving. This café is very famous ever since it was es tablished

because of its unique concept of business and also because the movie “Harry Potter”

was well-known and loved by many people. It attracts Harry Potter customers because

of their free use of Harry Potter stuffs like scarfs, wands and more. The Caféteria

launches new dishes and more flavors of desserts to invite customers. There are also

different books inside the Café that anyone may borrow and read while enjoying their

cafes. Based on the customers, they loved the ambiance of the store even if it is a small

place. The place may use to Pre-nuptial shoots. Customers love the place for the reason

that the Café let them experience Harry Potter world. But some are complaining of their

limited space.

On the other hand, although this business was very famous of their harry potter

theme, the Resto de Galleria can still compete with this kind of business since the

proposed business was also a movie themed and this will have more advantage since

not only one (1) movie will be featured unlike the Nook Café. The pricing of the products

and services that the Resto de Galleria was offering was affordable. Also, there was a

museum which will feature various international movies and will also one of the

advantages of Resto de Galleria to the Nook Café.

2. The Alice Tea Salon is an Alice in Wonderland-themed café. This café offers various

types of tea and cakes. The prices of their products ranging from 70-170 pesos and their

opening hours are from 8 in the morning up to 10 in the evening every day (Monday to

Sunday). They are promoting their business online using a website and some social

25
media accounts. Their customers were more on those people who loves the movie Alice

in the Wonderland. Those customers wanted to feel like they are also in Alice in

Wonderland so whenever they are residing those fans of the movie still manage to visit

the place.

On the other hand, the proposed business “Resto de Galleria” has more

advantages in many terms. First is the theme which is the attraction to the people since

the Resto de Galleria offers five (5) international movies and the two only offers one

movie theme each this means that there are more variety of movie fans to be catered.

Another is on the pricing for the business has been offering foods that are budget

friendly or affordable. The Resto de Galleria also offer five different movie experience

through the museum where the two business doesn’t have. Also, the Resto de Galleria

is accessible and convenient to visit for it was just placed in the road area therefore you

don’t need to look for it. The business is also Senior Citizen and PWD friendly for the

business provided the walkalator instead of using stairs for them. The business has also

a huge parking space so the costumers don’t need to worry of it. Lastly, the bus iness

has been providing different types of promotions which the two businesses have failed

According to legend, whoever reunited it with the other two Hallows

(the Resurrection Stone and the Cloak of Invisibility) would become the Master of

Death.

30
3. Cloak of Invisibility - is a magical artifact used to render the

professors along with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Harry also discovers that he is already famous throughout the novel’s magical

community, and that his fate is tied with that of Lord Voldemort, the

internationally feared Dark Wizard and murderer of his parents, Lily and James.

Hermione Jean Granger is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling’s Harry

Potter series. She first appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, as a new

the girls’ toilets, she becomes best friends with them and often uses her quick wit, deft

executed replica of the original MPP flash gun-based prop as seen

in 1977’s Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It sports the matte

black emitter, glossy black and silver control box/clamp, bubble strip

activation bar, and rubber T-grips that make Vader’s weapon so iconic. Further,

to set the saber apart from versions seen in subsequent films, this ANH replica

features the proper spacing between the rubber grips and the rightly off-center

clamp. I really have no issues at all with Hasbro’s (and formerly Master Replica’s)

work on this part of the saber, other than the plastic clamp, which I feel should be

aluminum.

Location of the business

Figure 2: Proposed Location of the Business

Note: The red circle is where the business will be established

37
Desirability of the Location

The proposed business “Resto de Galleria” will be placed on Bulacan specifically

in San Jose Del Monte (SJDM), Tungko wherein this location was a perfect place to start

a new business. The place where the business will be build was actually the point of

destination and origin of the people which will allow more people to access the location.

There was an MRT 7 to be established near the establishment so this expected to bring

many people to visit the business. On the other hand, the raw materials of the foods will

be coming from the Novaliches market with a one (1) hour ride going their business

store and the artifacts supplier have an estimated trip up to 45 minutes to North

Fairview, Quezon City which is the location of the supplier.

Alternative Locations

The alternative location that the business would be perfectly placed also is on

Quezon City, Fairview, Mindanao Avenue. This place had been known to be a shortcut

trip to Bulacan which was passed by private vehicles and public vehicles. Taking this as

an advantage, if the business will be established on that place many people will be able

to see it and access it, it will be more known towards different places. Lastly, the location

was so very easy to find and accessible for everyone. The location is expected to grow

especially if the MRT 7 was finished. This will generate more number of customers and

not just the population of the people in the area.

Regulatory Compliance

In the Philippines, if the business is a corporate type then a certificate of

registration must be obtain from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The

business must secure a barangay clearance and acquire a community tax certificate

(CTC) and secure a business license or mayor’s permit at the local government unit

38
(municipality or city hall office). Since it is located in San Jose Del Monte Bulacan, the
