Beowulf is a legendary Geatish warrior who travels to Denmark with his band of

soldiers, including his best friend Wiglaf. They met King Hrothgar who needs a hero to slay
Grendel a hideously malformed troll-like creature. He was attracted to Queen Wealthow who
also liked him.

Beowulf eliminated Grendel who attacks Herot whenever Danes held a celebration. King
Hrothgar gave Beowulf his golden drinking horn for freeing his kingdom.

Grendel’s mother took revenge and slaughtered Beowulf’s men while sleeping. Beowulf
and Wiglaf sought to slay Grendel’s mother, the last of water demons. Beowulf encountered
her in the cave in the form of a beautiful woman. Like King Hrothgar, Beowulf was seduced by
her. King Hrothgar realized the truth. He crowned Beowulf and committed suicide.

Years later, Beowulf got married to Wealtheow but they have grown apart. Beowulf had
a mistress Ursula but his tryst with Grendel’s mother left him sterile. Unferth recovered the
drinking horn that is why Grendel’s mother got angry. She sent her son with Beowulf, the
dragon, to destroy Beowulf’s kingdom. Beowulf returned the drinking horn but to no avail. The
dragon flew straight towards Beowulf’s home to destroy it.

Despite his age, Beowulf has killed the dragon. Beowulf mortally wounded and died. As
the new king, Wiglaf gave Beowulf a Norse funeral. Grendel’s mother gave Beowulf a final kiss.
The movie ended ambiguously with Wiglaf holding the horn and staring back at her, leaving his
fate unknown.
