Open Center Circuit;
Circuits which routes the pump flow back to the reservoir through the directional control valve
during neutral or dwell time. The circuit typically uses a fixed out put pump, such as a gear pump

Closed Center Circuit;


In this circuit the pump flow is blocked at the directional control valve when in neutral.
A pressure compensated / load sense pump is utilized that will have a control devise to de-stroke
it when the circuit is not being used and the main control valve is in neutral. The pump

Closed Loop Circuit


In this circuit the main ports of the pump are connected directly to the pump. The pump is
bi-directional, as is the motor. The pump out put and direction of flow are controlled at the pump.
This system normally has a charge pump to keep the closed loop full of oil.

Maximum system pressure may be controlled with the
use of a NC valve. Where the primary port is connected
to the system pressure and the secondary port is
connected to the tank. The poppet is kept closed

When system pressure reaches full relief, all fluid is


passed across the poppet to tank

A pressure reducing valve is a normally open pressure control valve


used to limit pressure in a hydraulic system.

The valve allows pressure to go through to the circuit until the


system pressure reaches the spring setting of the valve. At
this point the valve begins to close off limiting any further
build up in pressure.
As fluid begins to drain off the pressure will begin to decay
allowing the valve to reopen.
The result of this action is a reduced modulated pressure
equal to the setting of the valve.

A counter balance valve is a normally closed pressure valve used with


cylinders to counter a weight or potential over running load.

The pressure setting is set to slightly above the load induced pressure.
