Answer: ` 400 – ` 70.55 = ` 329.45

d. Add 1 hour 50 minutes 20 seconds and 2 hours 40 minutes 35 seconds. [1]


Answer: 4 hours 30 minutes 55 seconds

Q.3 Solve the following (5×2 = 10 Marks)


a. Convert 42820 minutes into days, hours and minutes. [2]
Answer:
1 hour = 60 minutes
42820 ÷ 60 = 713 hours and 40 minutes
1 day = 24 hours
713 ÷24 = 29 days and 17 hours
Thus, 42820 minutes = 29 days 17 hours 40 minutes

b. John had a veg cheese burger for ` 191.75 and a banana milkshake for ` 108.50 at a

restaurant.
i) Find the total bill amount he needs to pay? [1]

Answer: 108.50 + 191.75 = ` 300.25

ii) He paid ` 310. How many notes or coins will he get back? [1]

Answer: Answer may vary: 9 coins of ` 1 each , a 50 paise coin and a 25 paise coin
OR 4 coins of ` 2 each, 1 coin of ` 1, a 50 paise coin and a 25 paise coin

c. Calculate total area of the shape shown here. [2]

Total area of the shape = Area of the rectangle + Area of the square + Area of the
square
= (length × breadth) + (side × side) + (side × side)
= (8×3) + (3×3) + (3×3) = 24 + 9+ 9 = 24+ 18 = 42 sq.cm.

extend it to four places. [2]

e. Suzan kept track of how long it took to finish her homework each day during a week. She
plotted the line graph as shown below. Observe the graph and answer the following
questions.

Answer: 110 minutes or 1 hour 50 minutes

ii) On which days she completed her homework in minimum time? [1]
Answer: Monday or Sunday

a. Monica wants to decorate a pentagon shaped cardboard with a satin ribbon. One side of
the shape measures 12.7cm. All sides of the shape are equal in length. How much satin
ribbon will she need to decorate the cardboard? [2]
Answer: length of satin ribbon = perimeter of the pentagonal shaped cardboard = 12.7 +
12.7 +12.7 +12.7 +12.7 OR 12.7×5 = 63.5cm
Thus 63.5cm satin ribbon will be needed.

b. Calculate perimeter of the shape shown here. [2]

and answer the following questions.

ii) Calculate total number of children who like yellow and blue colour? [1]
Answer: 40

e. Steve gets ` 50 pocket money per week. He spends ` 2.50 on chocolates, ` 32 on an

educational magazine every week. He also donates `` 10 every week to needy people.
