B. Lesson Proper:
Okay, so this morning class, we are going
to learn on the different classification
of desserts

Alright, I have on the board strips of Carolina


with the different classification of desserts
who among you can read the first one?
Ma’am

Yes, Mae Cakes- these dessert resembles tender


sweet breads and made from flour, eggs
sugar and shortening.

An example of these classifications includes;


angel cake, chiffon cake, carrot cake
and all other types of cakes.

How about the second one? Ma’am

Yes, April Chocolate and Candies- this involve the


crystallization of sugar for that creation.

Chocolates are made from cacao plant


while candies are made from sugar

Examples of these classifications of desserts are


Fudge, caramels, lollipops, marshmallows

How about the third one, can you read for us


Kristel?

Cookies- are sometimes called tiny cakes.


they are made from basic ingredients of
of sweeteners, eggs, butter or shortenings
and flour.

This may include chocolate chip cookies,


sugar cookies, oatmeal cookies
and peanut cookies.

How about the fourth one can you read for us


Cassandra?
Custards and Pudding-typically include a
thickened dairy base.
Custard- are baked and thickened
with eggs.
Pudding-in the other hand are cooked and
thickened with starches.

An example of custards are Leche flan and


the best example of pudding is majablanca
variations of this pudding include vegan
puddings made from silken tofu or locally
called tokwa.

Yes, Aira Fresh Fruit Dessert- this classification of


dessert is very easy to prepare especially
when in season, very abundant and easy
to prepare.

An example of this is ripe mango, ripe


banana, ripe pineapple and all fruit
that are commonly in season.

Frozen desserts-these classification of


dessert are prepared and stored in a
freezer for a long period of time in
order that these desserts will not melt
immediately. It is always served during
summer in order to beat the heat on
summer days.

Examples of these are ice cream, popsicles


ice drops and gelato are Italian ice cream and
sorbet is a mixture of sugar, water and fruits
juices, but also uses wine, liquors and other
flavoring agents.

Yes, Tristan Pies- are made from crust and a filling


the crust can be on top or on bottom
of the filling or just on the bottom
made from pastry on graham
cracker crumbs.

Examples of this are apple pies, pineapples, buko


pies. A pie filling includes custards and puddings,
nuts and fruits.

classification of desserts?

of desserts we are eating.

classification of desserts has something to
do with our health since we notice that
not all examples of those desserts given are
high in fat and sugar content.

Class, I’ am going to divide you in three groups


choose 4 among yourselves to represent your
group. You will be given examples of desserts
and you are going to classify accordingly.
You will be given 1 minute to classify the
different desserts. Rewards will be given to
the highest pointers.
